    5-year-old banned from supermarket

Can't believe a story like that made it to the evening news. Surely the best course of action would've been the managers belt over their hand and sent on their way?

    Link???

    Yup, ban them all!
Also, ban all the retards who cannot push a fuckin* trolley and park it on the side of the bloody aisle, so that others can get through without having to put that pack of condoms and anal lubricant in their fuckin* trolley to provide embarressment at the checkout...

Pathetic! 5 year olds have no legal status, so cant be trespassed anyway. Obviously an over energetic supervisor using what tiny amount of power they have to "follow the rules" and BAN THIS BAD ARSE!! from the store *.

As far as the evening news goes.......... total waste of space mostly.

The mum was deluding herself though; on TV3 news she said "a 5-year-old doesn't even know what stealing is, doesn't know right from wrong at that age."
That's total bullshit. Kids that age know.

She will be next....ever seen a 4 year old whizzing around at 4mph in a supermarket.....quite funny, people don't know what to do.........and the amazing thing is that she has not hit anyone in 2 years and the only damage was a packet of persil which the handles caught as she turned....or was that doughnut!!

Once upon a time you'd have been dragged home by the ear so your father could give you the cane, which isn't a bad deterant... now what can they do? Ban a 5 year old? Man this system is working out well...

A 5 year old does not know the difference between right and wrong. The older child does and should be banned (there's been no mention of this child). What of the care giver? The care giver left the store without the kids - is that care?
The parents should have been called and asked to collect their child, a trespass notice against the 5 year old is not warranted. Good chance for the parents to 'parent' their child - not enough parenting happens these days.

Incidentally what about the big bad supermarket? Heaps of bad press for protecting their stock. Retailers lose millions of dollars a year in stolen goods - but they're held up to be the bad ones. Stock prices go up as a result of shoplifting (among other reasons) so in the end we all pay more.

The reality is the media are the only winners (again) for making a mountain out of a 5 year old.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

i agree. the 18 year old should have been held vicariously liable, and been trespassed instead.

    Nor do some adults.

    Think about this:

A 5 yr old is 1/3 grown up if you consider an 18 year old is a grown up and they certainly know more that 1/3 of what an 18 year old knows so I am not convinced they do not know the difference.

Kids do things because they know it is wrong, normally to get attention.
