    I'm going to attempt a wee sum here;
    When I got my first V8 in 1973 gas was 47 cents a GALLON. Or 4.5 litres. That put the price at about 10.4 cents per litre and I was a poor, hard-done-by apprentice pulling the princely sum of $25pw.

    Lets pretend I now earn twenty times that original weekly sum and pull 500pw. If gas had risen in price at the same rate then it would be running at $2.08cpl. Gas hasn't reached two bucks (yet) and I do better than 500 bucks pw so I'll not be moaning too hard for a while.

    With a bike each, a shopping trolley and a V8 in the drive life really isn't too shabby. There'll always be someone who has a flasher car, TV, house, whatever, but right now; I wouldn't be dead for quids.

    Life is good, be positive!

    Well, thank you; I'd also like to add that bourbon runs at about forty bucks a litre but I'm still buying that too!

    It rains... ok - sell SW
    Sun comes out... ok... sell SW
    Both... ok sell SW...

    You get the idea?
    Not sure how Fonterra comes into the picture. NZ does export stuff other than dairy produce.

    Well Nige, you see.

    Milk will go up. Because its sold in US dollars. And we have to pay the same as they pay overseas for it.
    And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Well I got good news (for me) and bad news (for ... errr. not me)

    Good news is I'm on commission based on NZD totals of SW sold in the US. In short that means I get more money for a weaker dollar... personally. So effectively - Milk drops in price... for me.

    The bad news for errr not me... that rule probably doesn't hold true for all.

    But thanks - tis a good point.

    As you see in the above post, I refer to farmers.
