I was taking a look over my Hyosung GT250r today after a decent run (120kmish), and I noticed something I don't remember seeing before and it has me worried.
There are many fine "cracks" on the side of the motor, particilarly where the mould "curves around" (e.g, on a right angle). Some are relatively wide/deep - enough to get your fingernail in them, and some are just thin surface cracks.
Also, I pushed on the alloy near the cracks and it left a small "stretch indentation" (kind of like what happens when you stretch plastic out and it goes white and streaky). It's almost as if the motor is made of plastic.
Now this motor has done all of 850km and it hasn't been overstressed because I have been trying to run it in easily.
Is this something I should be worried about? It doesn't look good but then I have no experience with these things...
I've attached a picture, and although it's not great quality, hopefully you can see what I'm getting at.
