IF you are picking up a Honda, book a fairy for the following week.

IF you ar picking up a gixxer, book a ferry for a departure 3hrs after you leave Dunedin and request a wheelbarrow to carry your testicles in. Since SH1 is being ridden, there are no corners and the gixxer will not crash unexpectedly.

The best i`v done bottom to top is 5 hours, but I was on a ZX12R.

4 hours max! i did it on 3 hours 20 the other week.
what 80km arera??? there is no such thing.
If you have time do the inland scenic highway at kaikoura up through mt lyford through to hamnier turnoff and then down to cheviot.

Dunedin to Christurch is around 4.5 hours straight riding if you stick to SH1. But that is boring.

Christchurch to Picton is around 4 hours. Watch for those long 80 kmh areas south of Kaikoura.

I might add that those riders who stick to SH1 only have themselves to blame for making it boring.

It is 80kmh from Oaro heading north around the Kaikoura coast until where you hit the river near the airfield south of Kaikoura and has been for well over a year

Before speed limits one could go from Dunedin to Christchurch in 3 hours 3 minutes.

go up the middle.. its a nicer ride, not SH1 and a lot less traffic.
