I had to read the article twice. He was trying to break the 300kmh barrier. I'm sure a friend of mine hit 320kmh on a Hayabusa along the back straight at Pukekohe.
This guy could have saved himself a bit of grief and money - Pukekohe's not too far from Hamilton.
Surely they meant 400kmh barrier?
I thought the whole point of Bonneville salt flats was that you could go faster there than anywhere else on the suface of the planet since you don't need to worry about bumping into stuff. Seems pointless if the surface is so bad that 280kmh after 8km of acceleration is deemed pretty good.
I'm a novice and managed 240kmh on a 636 on the Pukekohe back straight.
In space, no one can smell your fart.
