took side cover off my 91 honda rebel 250 to polish the alloy as it was oxidised and after putting it back on went for a ride.
getting along the road and found that i couldnt get 5th gear
could i have done something when i took the cover off????

sounds like you have put your gear shifter back in the wrong position on the spline and it is maybe hitting the case when trying to get into 5th gear as maybe it is a longer click up on your bike to get 5th or something....reposition the gear shift mechanism 1 or 2 teeth different on it's spline and try that

addjusted the spline and seems to be ok now thank you for your help
