I have Microsoft Works 7.0 running on Windows XP (I think)......
Works has Work Word Processor, not Word. Word processor is crap! Is there somewhere I can get word for free?????????
Any advice will be gratefully accepted.

Depends what you want to do, you can get a Word Viewer free to open word documents if that's all you need to do, but you can't get it free (legally) to write with.
Openoffice has a good wp - free too
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
I'll just write here, that even as a Linux/Open-source-software zealot, that I find Open Office an utter dog. Microsoft Office 2000 is one of the few Microsoft products that were worth the money.
Of course Open Office whips Works' ass (intended ass) any day.
I can't remember the last time I used any of the above anyway. Use LaTeX.
AbiWord http://www.abisource.com
OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org
Open Office.
It can be a bit slow at times but does the job. However there are plenty of tips on the net to speed up Open Office with the main one being to increase Graphics Cache and Memory http://www.brunolinux.com/06-Fine_Tu...penOffice.html
OPen Office is shit loads better than Works though - it opens MS Office documents and it is free. Why not use it.
It functions at about where MS Office 97 did so there is hope![]()
