shit yea! was crazy how fast he rode that bike through the twisties ,didn't really lean like on a sport bike ,he just seemed to stick his leg out like a motocross rider.

really like the styling and how light and flickable they feel ,maybe something i look at later on i think, after i have sold this hornet.

by the way Napier has some beaut twisty roads around although in some parts the gravel shows up at the worst of times

think i might go for some rides around that area more often

Unless you get one with higher milage you'll find even second hand ones still quite expensive. If you do look into one check the front end out in detail particularly the steering head bearings coz they mono real easy, if I had one i'd be pulling mono's all the time, just a twist of the throttle away in first but it's more a torque mono than a power mono so it's more low speed.

yea i figured that ,as the guy who owned it showed me a couple of them when he took off ,he was saying that it is so easy and so tempting to do it everytime you take off from the lights etc ,so ill have to remember to look at the steering then.

well i have been talking to a couple of bike shops and they pointed me in the direction of a couple 2nd hand ones with about 8-10k on the clock for about $16k+ which is not entirely out of reach... but yes still quite expensive considering what you can buy for that area of $$$

also considering a fz6 or something similar as i like how comfortable the setup is,is very rev hungry to tho which i was a bit unsure of, apparently its the tuned down r6 engine the fella was telling me ....? dont want something too racy just yet tho ,so im disregarding stuff like gsxr's and the like at this point

Just back from our wee jaunt: 5,656kms in 11 days (10 days riding). Awesome weather the whole time. Bike loved it's exercise although had to have a slow leak fixed in Tauranga this morning. Will be sticking up photos & doing a write up at some stage. Watch this space...

Yeah I could definitely see the sterring head bearings and forks getting a pounding on a SuperDuke
Yeah $16k ain't too bad but as you say that opens the door to plenty of low milage second hand bikes, there is a very low milage blue '07 FZ1 SV for sale at PT's for $15k for instance or Barbenders '06 ZX14 for $15k fully kitted with ohlins rear shock, modded forks, PC3 and pipe and so on.
A light bloke like you does'nt really need that many cubes though, a 600cc would be plenty.
Yes as I understand it to be the FZ6 has a detuned R6 motor and they are supposedly quite peaky, same issue with my bike, detuned R1 motor but really no one home under 5-6k on the tacho....
