Man, just had some feedback on and pics of Sarah's engine. All I will say is be very careful who gets to work on your bikes guys. The amount of damage one rushed 'service' can do is mindboggling. Not to mention incredibly expensive if undiscovered. Find a good mechanic and stick with them. Luckily, major engine and electrical system damage was avoided this time. Another 10000 K and things would have been much worse!

The mind boggles Lance. Sure, shit happens, but it's the shit you can't see that does the damage. Anyway, all's well now

Gidday. Well to start with the airbox was misaligned and not sealed to the throttle bodies. This was causing dirt and oil to be sucked into the engine and binding the throttle bearings, hence the stiff throttle action.

Next up, the coil seals around the plugs had been sloppily fitted allowing moisture and dirt into the plug tunnels, causing 'shorts', which partially explains the rough running.

The airbox drain plug was missing, allowing more road dirt into the airbox and engine.

There were unevenly and overtightened components.

All up, the combination of all this has caused a large loss of compression as dirt and corrosion have damaged the inlet valve seats.

Luckily, it was in the early stages and can be fixed.

Given any more extended riding the situation would have spread throughout the engine.

    Lesson learned from this.

All it takes is a small lapse in concentration, poor product knowledge, or poor attention to detail during servicing and 10 K down the track you end up with a major issue. Which you won't know about until it's too late.

Is a worry, especially if you bought the bike with a warranty(dealer),and decided to get it serviced from a guy like Kerry who knows more than most, but isn't authorised to service the bike, thus null and voiding any claim.

Crap thats not too good Al
Sometimes you got to wonder weather youd be better off servicing your bike yourself, at least youd know what and when has been done and if it was done properly, but then if your not trained or mechanicaly minded you could easily miss something or stuff it up with nobody to blame but yourself
Think your right, find a good mechanic and stick with him or her especialy if shes hot I have found a briliant mechanic that works on my boat motor and now wouldnt go anywhere else but my bike i am stuck with the dealer until it runs out of warantee. In all fairness to AFC they havnt let me down yet and i have had trouble free riding
Hope all works out for Sarah
Did she think about contacting previous owner and having a chat to find out who done the servicing, quite posable he has done it himself
