Gonna be snow on them thar hills in the morning ! If that southerly don't die out the chill factor will be a good one !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Gidday. Well to start with the airbox was misaligned and not sealed to the throttle bodies. This was causing dirt and oil to be sucked into the engine and binding the throttle bearings, hence the stiff throttle action.

Next up, the coil seals around the plugs had been sloppily fitted allowing moisture and dirt into the plug tunnels, causing 'shorts', which partially explains the rough running.

The airbox drain plug was missing, allowing more road dirt into the airbox and engine.

There were unevenly and overtightened components.

All up, the combination of all this has caused a large loss of compression as dirt and corrosion have damaged the inlet valve seats.

Luckily, it was in the early stages and can be fixed.

Given any more extended riding the situation would have spread throughout the engine.

    Lesson learned from this.

All it takes is a small lapse in concentration, poor product knowledge, or poor attention to detail during servicing and 10 K down the track you end up with a major issue. Which you won't know about until it's too late.
Not good Al! The coil seals are an issue with the S3 as well. They are poorly designed and don’t fit well from factory! I discovered a rusty plug at 5000k on my bike and it was the first time the seals had been removed.
There is a fix though, with a new seal design that covers externally, not just internally. I just wonder if the Daytona is the same.

You might want to check out the seals on your 1050 too Bill. If you have the old ones, replace them. Part Number T1291511 and about $5 each.

Yeah had an issue with them on the 955 ! Not replaced as the guy that serviced it recond they might not have been on properly ! but the plugs had corrosion around the contacts (not to mention water) Thought it was from me water blasting it !

Will get some new seals ordered for the 1050 and see if the part num the same for the 955 !
Is that the after market part number ?
