I think the conversation today went something like... "I wish you could pick up Buller gorge and tack it onto the end of V.Hill.."

When you get your bike up and running you'll have to start checking out some of the roads in the north, I promise you we have plenty of our own good roads, just seems at times grass is greener over the other side as locally most the decent sealed roads have been done to death and any decent new road you travel is like finding gold.
I will say it seems by what i've been told the roads are in better condition down south, perhaps because there is more traffic up here.. dunno, but the point being there is there are some gems of back roads..

This is very true. There are some awesome bike roads in the North Is. In fact there are probably a higher number than the South. The South has less traffic generally, but more campervans on the best bits. The views can be more interesting in the South. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery.
Experience......something you get just after you needed it

Try taking one plug out. It'll only take half the effort - then you can put it back in after. New battery time!

You are so close there that it is scary.....And Levin I believe is a recreation of Ashburton...boring and drab, just serving it's purpose and that's all..

    Note from the South..

...The Tiger and the Bear having been snorting through some spectacular roads. Al is getting to know `Black Girl` well is and sneaking away for the odd blat now and again.
South Island is a Bikers `Eden'-easily the best time I have had in my 18mths riding

Now....off to find Al some Bluff oysters

Oh dear, another sad little post from the man who thinks sarcasm is wit.
