Did it on my K2 Bandit once - piece of cake, but then it was pretty good in the gravel (wide bars, plenty of low down grunt).

Will see how the 14 goes on the gravel bits of the Forgotten Highway before heading across the Napier-Taihape. It is a good ride though.

DOn't know if I would like to attack it on the 14.. Hell, I will do the gravel on the monster but only because it is low, wide bars etc... But looking at your bike, that would worry the shit out of me as soon as I see the loose stuff..

Think it'd be alright - I'd only be worried about stones bouncing off the fairing etc. It's got the same wide bars, motor that doesn't need to rev and the weight would also help too - minimize that floating/rolling around on marbles feeling. Shaft drive a bonus too.

Sailed into some pretty nasty road works on the GC on it in top gear, just lopped it down 1 cog and kept going...

I am thinking I might have some small issues on the monster.. While it is low, wide and torquey, my front sprocket is way to tall...Doesn't like to be riden at low speeds at all, very jerky and the power comes on unexpected sometimes due to this..

that could be one way, or fit a 14T front sprocket before the ride... Makes the Ducati's more rideable at round town speeds which is what I would want for the gravel...

Just decided: I'm heading to do Danniverke-Weber-Pongaroa-Pahiatua-Palmy. Leaving in about 15mins. Will check back before I leave in case there's anyone else still at home and not out enjoying the riding weather who might be keen...

Did it in reverse the other weekend, but we also visited Akitio beach for ice cream.. The road into the beach is all sealled now and great for a squirt. Good visibility with some twisties..

I can't come out, have work to do and promised the mrs lunch out..
