I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

    Logical/sensible plan?

Very nice - my old man had one. I think it was pretty good economy wise and no shortage of grunt (although the RF I had the time pulled better from down low, the ZZ-R's were know for a bit of a flat-spot at around 3-4,000rpm). Great looking bike too.

I know the 1100C models were chronic for cam shaft wear.
I'll keep having a look around, I can't throw the CB on tardme yet, a mate used my account to sell a TransAm (doug207, if anyone wants a 76 TransAm project....) and they haven't topped the account up
I think a ZZR600 is worth looking at the 1100 would be nice, but, too expensive and more than what I need. I have to be realistic

so why not an RF? Pretty good value for money. Mine did everything I needed brilliantly and was bloody economical too, I could easily get over 350 a tank (19 litres IIRC, banditrider will probably know), although I do recall getting to 380 once, two up, when I had to switch to reserve.

They just don't take it too well if you decide to get off the bike before you've actually stopped moving

edit: this one you'd probably get for not much more than $3K - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-366085949.htm

An RF is definitely on the list now. I do like them, bloody good bikes and I imagine they are very comfortable?
I've never had much luck getting off bikes whilst moving, it may be my over the bars dismount?
Perhaps getting rid of both bikes would be a better option and get one that does everything, ZZR600/1100 or RF900/600 VFR750/800. Not overly worried on the power side of things as they all make acceptable or more grunt (80 or more at the wheel in my humble opinion)
Time to get the Kawa sorted and the Honda wants a WoF...

It's interesting that I had a Two Wheels magazine which had a ride comparison between the RF and the ZZ-R - they lumped them both in the same class. The ZZ-R probably only had the extra ponies and 6th cog in it's favour. The RF was a great bike - one thing I remember is how well it handled in the tighter, bumpier stuff.

Did my first three Grand Challenges on mine, so comfort pretty good. Got some data on it's economy somewhere...

Not sure why you're laughing? At least it didn't end up looking like exploded Lego.
