Backtracked to Masterton for gas up then back through the Alfredton (stopped to move a rather large gum branch off the road that was blocking one lane 14kms out off Masterton), Pongaroa for late lunch, then of home via Makuri/Ngaturi/Woodville. Was wearing an open chockchaser helmet. Certainly an interesting way to keep ones speed down. Hell even matches the bikes paint work which is a bit of a worry. When I took it off for lunch a bit of airbourne live stock vacated it.

Clipped a blind dog yesterday, no serious damage to dog or bike. Had to dodge sheep, cattle, hawkes, bumble bees and numberous other unidentifiable flapping objects today.

I'm sure I saw Mr and Mrs Pickle enroute heading in the oppersite direction. Had a quick natter to a pommy bloke doing the touring thing at Masterton. Scooted passed a couple of Ullysians on the way home. Around 400kms at a sedate pace all up today and 140 yesterday.

    A very enjoyable weekends riding.
That much riding in one week end, Connie must be away for a few days eh

Thought so. Glad I moved the branch then. It was on your side of the road just after that bridge, right hander, about 5-6 kms before the Brideford turn off.

good work. Reminds me of this one time, at band camp.....

Actually I wasnt at band camp but I was travelling from PN to tauranga late one night and I was coming down the hill into Mangaweka and there was a car parked up a tree... in the right hand lane, of the passing lane.

That was an entertaining night. Car didnt look really flash and no one was hurt but the guy driving bloody near shit himself.

Nearly all men can stand adversity and hard time, but if you want to test a mans true character, give him power....

Had a bloody horse you could've ridden today, was trying to load her on a tandem float, she has had an episode me thinks with floats, loads ok on trucks but won't budge on floats.Pushed, cajoled, everything nice and calm,no probs putting halter on,patting around head, just wouldn't go more than two steps.Gave up when I was behind her pushing, lifting and front legs on ramp, back legs about 18" behind, thinking good one more step, nope came back onto moir, hit the deck, she went to the right, luckily I rolled crawled behind, she always came off to right so missed trampling me.Mind you still ended slightly winded and sore.Nice mare to handle, think she is for sale due to float issues.

thats why I do the natural horsemanship .. never met a horse I could not trailer load yet .. but you have to set it up so you both win .. horses do not like trailers goes back to the days of predators being in caves and horses are naturally claustrophobic .. however by making everything outside the float uncomfortable and the float the only comfy place to be it does not take that long to teach them to run in there and not come out

Half the problem was they had tried to load her before we got there,a couple of them were apprehensive around her,so when we attempted to push her on,she dug her feet in,if we spent another hour she would be on,but two guys with the owner got jittery when she backed off and stepped to the right.Plus she has habit of as she gets on the floor she lifts her head, thus the problem,I think she has been loaded onto a low height float, and as she has stepped up on floor, has lifted her head and hit the roof, hence the scared factor, not a problem with truck height.

makes it harder for sure .. had a horse that did exactly that & would not load on a float .. by the time everyone else tried to teach it to load she was really difficult .. friend who used to give me crap about the natural horsemanship then asked if i would have a go .. said sure cause I knew I could get her going on by herself willingly again .. turned up to an audience of snobby horsey ppl who wanted a laff .. sitting on the balcony drinking wine while watching .. did my thing & within a hour that horse was running up the float & while I sat on the mudguard if she came off sent her round again .. needless to say the snobby horsey set went away quietly .. horse still to this day runs up the float & no further issues
