eek Jas's test day & VMCC round 4 report, I ran Kyle over!

My goal for the Friday and Saturday was to relax, have fun and stay upright. I got 2 outta 3, not bad
    Test day 17th August:

Got there with plenty of time, signed in and checked the bike over.
In the first session I had forgot to strap my kick start leaver back in, so it kept folding down every right corner and my fourth gear was sticking.

I called into pits and strapped my kick starter up, had a bit of a think about what was happening with the gears and decided there was nothing I could do apart from paying more attention to what gear I'm in and very firmly pushing the gear lever into 5th. So it wasn't such a bad thing as I do need to pay more attention to which gear I'm in any way

I went back out and things slightly improved.

In the second session I wanted to work on relaxing and being as smooth as I can, so I started off really slow, but with being relaxed and smooth it made me quicker

After lunch we went on to the full track, so I was interested in seeing what that was going to be like.

Session 3: I almost forgot that we had changed to the long track, good thing somebody was in front of me who knew where they were goingWent out in the dry but by about half way through it started raining (I think it was in this session). It was my first time ever riding on the track in hard rain... it was SO much fun kicks ass compared to drizzly weather.

Session 4: My knees are pretty weak so by this stage they were startin to get a bit sore so I decided to go out for a few laps and then come back in. So went out, had some fun, and then came back in a few laps before checkered flag.

Overall... I really enjoyed the day, especially the long track and rain

Thanks to all the marshals and organizers who made this day, especially the long track, possible

Will type up the race report a bit later on in the day...........

Yeah, I was a little confused to see you smiling when we came to get your bike. Then you told me.... Kyle she did it on purpose mate!

Good to see you out there having fun chick, you're going really well. Keep it up but maybe you should find other ways of "taking out the competition"!

    Race day:

Lesson learned from round 3, we were there nice and early

Thanks to Andy and the Vic club for letting us pit our bikes for the night.

Checked the bike over, Did the few things that needed to be done like tyre pressure and fuel etc and then signed in.

Qualifying went quite well, my main aim was to take it slow and smooth again slowly building up but I wasn't as confident or quick on the new track in the dry as I was in the wet

Race one: I got an OK start but chickened out when I was in with the pack as I'm still really nervous being so close with other bikes, I think on the 2nd or 3rd lap the race got red flagged which gave me the opportunity to have another go

Re Start: I can't really remember in detail all the passes and stuff that went on as the crash sort of took up all the memory of the race but if some of you think that it happened other wise please post it up
It was one of the worst starts I've had so far, but managed to catch up with the group at the back through splash. I was behind one of the Currie brothers (I think) for a while until I passed him, we tossed round for a bit then on the second lap both him and Kyle got me back on the inside as I ran wide from Higgins. I think I got Kyle back around the outside on the left sweeper going into the new track and I knew he'd be close behind.
Here we go folks .... Coming into the right hand hair pin Kyle out breaked me on the inside but cut the apex and had to get too much of a lean to make the corner, so he lost the rear and low sided about a meter in front of me, which of course isn't very far when he's slowing down incredibly quickly and I was preparing to accelerate out to try get him on the inside again
What I can remember of it was seeing him loose his rear, my brain going mad trying to find a way around him and his bike (which there wasn't) and then trying to decide whether it'd be better to hit him or the bike as Kyle was slightly more left then his bike. But I didn't have the time or the choice to make as I hit Kyle before I could even try to get the bike.
It was a pretty weird feeling! My bike went up and over his helmet then I lost the front wheel coming back down and low sided to the left. Some how I got on the other side of the bike and almost to the grass, I got up as quickly as I could and ran to Kyle and my bike, which it looked like he had been stuck under but thankfully he had just slid beside it! He jumped up and dived to the grass while I was trying to find out if he was ok and also trying to keep an eye out behind us in case some one smashed into our bikes.

Sooo thankful we were both OK!! Also our bikes came out pretty good

Big huge thanks to the marshals and recovery crew, you guys ROCK!

Will post up photo's of Kyle's helmet + visor and race 8 soon, but thought I'd stop all the suspense, hehe

The crash looked pretty interesting from my angle, (im guessing it was this one) i was coming around the left hander where the new track joins back up and looking through the corner just saw out of the corner of my eye the two bikes and riders go down. Awesome that the both of you (and bikes) came out of it unbroken

As for outbraking on the inside of the hairpin, jeepers that can be fun/scary!!! you'll have to ask luke about that one.

It was awesome to see all you guys out there and have your support, i was pretty nervous about how i'd go.

Might cruise on up for the cold kiwi yet...
See you guys next round i guess
