I havent read any of the previous posts, so soz if this is a repeat of something someone has said.
I came out for a noisy, Soz I didnt say hi, I had the mini me and wife in toe. Looks like you all had a lot of fun. I easily spotted some of you guys, SpankMe seemed to be flying along easy to spot on silver bike all in black.. I lost track who was actually up front when you were all on the track. The funniest thing I saw was someone (not sure who?) would go past the grandstand on the front straight on one wheel every time. Then the next thing I saw was someone comin flying past (literally) doing the Superman look. Everyone in the stand suddenly turns and looks at this one guy come cruisen past with his legs sticking out the back. Did someone have a off on the back straight? Hope not?
Looks like you had good fun. Looked like a good turn out.![]()

Was that you i had a chat too in the pits??? John was the one doing stand up wheelies on the CBR1000RR (he isnt on KB) and i was the one doing the superman on the purple ZXR400 LMAO, a few people had some off's on the back straight.....Originally Posted by Judderbar
Worse crash of the day was the guy on the CBR250RR (from the Bay of Islands, also not on KB) who lowsided on Castrol and hit the barrier and broke his wrist and got a very bad concusion..... He is a bloody awesome rider too, does 1:18's on a CBR250RR

Hey guys! awesome day, had loads of fun running some 1:20's or so( nobody was timing, felt around there) with the boys trying to get some stuff going. Shadey had some good stuff going on there on the racebike and came back in each time without even complaining about the problems with the bike that i go on about?
6Chris, what can one say man? I dont bother with feeding shit when it comes to the track dude, and when your not as pleased with your efforts at the end of the day as you would have hoped to have been, nothing short of a new 636 landing on your doorstep will put the dolmio grin on your mug. Thats not to say i wasnt short of impressed with your effort though, Your first time circulating the track and only 3 short runs to do it in? You came home with that first day out of the way (i had to do it, shade had to do it, we all have before) No scratches (new ones:P) on the bike, and some experience that will toss about your head for weeks to come - which DOES improve your riding for next time you go out, twasnt many months ago that i had done many a trackday+laps around pukekohe and had a fastest time on hte viffer of only around 1:18. So it WAS a good day for you. (next time take my 400 and honestly ride it like you stole it, dont mind if it hits the deck)
Take it easy all - also good to see you suck it up and just go do it MR! Thats the spirit mate.
Well that was fun! I was the guy on the blue R1 that most people overtook! Nice to meet some of you folks. Realy enjoyed the 2 sessions I did, definitely quicker by the second session. On the ride home everything felt so slow in comparison.
Quite a few people ran off the track, which surprised me especially at the end of the back straight. My bike is still bedding in and I could only get up to 250 kmh by the end of the straight and I know other R1's and GSXR 1000's were doing about 300kmh. Ah well next time.
Did any one get any photos?
Hey guys. Spent most of the afternoon very entertained with some awesome bike handling. Would have loved to be out there, but the mighty Zeal proberbly isnt the ideal track bike. Meet a couple of u's in the pits then went up to the front straight for a few photo's then down to the hairpin in the next session for a few more. Have posted a couple in the gallery setup by spankme and will upload a few more on sunday. Sorry, as I dont actually know anyone, I wouldnt have a clue who I got pic's of.
jaxda, you ride a zeal too? CoolMaybe you saw my one parked in the carpark on the grandstand side of the track? I know what you mean about not the ideal bike for the track though... That's my excuse too, and I haven't got the $$.
I was there taking pics too. Me and Paparazzi rode down along some of the more windy roads rather than take the main highway. Not really great roads for hooning, but they were more interesting than the highway, I reckon (plus I'm not much of a hoon).
It was good fun spending the day there, talking to people and taking photos. I even met an old friend who was there testing his Alfa Romeo (a cage) that had promised me a ride in it. He was running the engine in so had to limit his speed, and unfortunately the car's suspension couldn't cope with my extra weight (90kg or so) and one of the wheels scraped on the wheelarch, so I had to get out after a few laps... :P It was fun anyway, but I think it's more fun hanging off a bike and leaning over etc.
I took 186 photos, not including the really bad ones that I just deleted straight away. I've managed to pick out 35 of the better ones which I have uploaded into the gallery in the 2004 events - Puke open day Oct gallery
I've resized them to 640 by 480 (most of them, anyway. Some where cropped) to make them easier to view on the web, but if anyone wants the full size (1600x1200 pixels) version of a photo, pm or email me and I'll email it to you.
Appologies to anyone that I didn't get a pic of. Swanman, I looked through all the pics I got, but I couldn't see any blue R1's, must've missed you.
Id also just like to put that FULL EBR Respect goes out to our brother CK. Richard before today you was just another chowicker, And as the track has brought my attention to the good guys out there a number of times in the past, it has done yet again. Your a wicked dude richard, and angela (i rememberd your name twice now, big ups for my memory!). You take it easy dude, and ive only just thought of it but i really appreciate you sticking around for us till the very end of the day.
Big ups to our East-Sider!
Jaxda did you ride down, I didnt see your bike around. I saw Paparazzi and Eriks.
Two Smoker it wasnt me soz. May of been Jaxda.

I went through about 3 rolls of film - black and white of course, being the purist that I am.
I'll be in the darkroom sometime after the 13 November, and if I have got any decent shots, I'll upload them and/or make some 8x10's for the stars.
Yeah it was a good day....never seen so many bikes out there before and it was good to see so many 1st timers too - you couldn't have asked for a better day.
Good to see Shade, Shade Snr, TS, Guy and Curious George making some good progress. Hard luck for a few others like me, CK, Drunken Monkey and Bruno who's trusty two stroke had enough of his 1:11's and siezed on him.
It was very busy on the track and hard to put in good laps times but was still able to work on individual corners. I'm still annoyed with myself for getting a little too over-confident in the first session and deciding to see how far I could lean it over coming out of castrol. The bike dropped on its side, slid off the track and tumbled after hitting the ripple strip. Made a right mess out of my front fairing/screen, left clipon and brake/clutch levers. Luckily I had my spares so was back out next session minus front fairing/screen however I was about 20kph down on top speed. For the 3rd session I taped/cable tied all the front fairing pieces I had back together and made a screen out of a 5lt oil container (KK would've been proud!!!) just to confirm it was drag from no fairing and not some unknown mechanical problem. This fixed it so now I know front fairing is the difference between 200 and 220kph so there ya go Two Smoker that should be all the incentive you need!!
Also good on ya KK for being such a giver, sussing out Shade, carting bikes everywhere and donating your day to help out others!!
