    Drew from behind

Ok, it's not what ya think...

Where to start? The trip up, get the ute loaded, wait for my honey to knock off work, then hit the road. Not too far into the trip, "why isn't the heater workin?" Turns out there would have to be water in the cooling system for that to work, and you'd know there wasn't if the temp guage worked! At first I thought it to just be a blown radiator hose, so I call up the legend that is Mikey, and comes to Paraparam with the one off his ute. Cool, go to leave, shit, flat tyre, pump it up and we're off, two minutes later, the other radiator hose comes off, shit, fix it, fill it with water, off we go again. Nope, blown head gasket, "Fuck it, I'll just keep toppin it up with water and carry on". Five hours later we get to Fielding with one very rooted ute.

Race day, Darkman is blinding fast in qualifying, and gets sick of the track, so sods off into the grass, I make sure he's ok, and get the bike ready to go out again.

I missed my qualifying, so started from 31st position, (dead last), got a mint launch, and was mid pack into turn one, had a great run round T1, and came out top ten, picked off the rest of the field barr two in the first two laps and finished third.

Race two, more of the same but better, great start and run round turn on to be top six odd, and coming onto the new circuit was running second on the first lap. That Tigcraft thingy me bob came past me on the start finish line at the start of lap two, and I continued the race a very lonely third place again.

Trip home, in the rooted ute. Killed it completely, but we made it. Came up the hill to home runnin on two cylinders, makin some ghastly noises, anyone got a 2ltr cyclone mitsi engine around home from a van?

Thanks soooo much to my lady again for all her support, and Andries, for lettin me ride the bike when you wanted to sell it, Mikey is a star, and wasted his entire weekend runnin around after me, the crew from KTL motorcycles are legends, with support beyond a racers dreams. Poos again for the tyre warmers, Riff Raff for her coffee, and all our many friends who came to watch, Tony&Carolyn, Grant and Jodee, Skels and Lissa, and anyone else who had a look, what did we do to deserve such a great bunch of people around us. (That goes for Flame too guys, she dont do race reports, thinks it's posey)

Was lucky to see your 2nd race and it was quite inspiring to watch you coming...from...beh (I can't say it!!). Pity the commentator didn't know where you'd started cause then he'd be a bit more excited I think.

Awesome race Drew, can't fuggin wait to see you at the next meeting bro. Btw - is your next bike/ride going to be steam powered like your ute?

Hey ever you have trouble with a ute like that again the first thing to do is buy some Wynns Radiator Stop Leak coz its great with preventing hassles with the head gasket if you catch it early enough. If you leave it and cook the head the alloy just loves cracking.

p.s. sounds like your racing went well though. Got any pics?
    Cheers
