    Paint chips rusting...

I' fumbled whilst removing my gas tank, and dropped it.

Its now got a small dent on the front edge. (right up under the speedo - at least its not that easy to spot)

The paint has chipped / flaked a bit, and whats left is starting to rust!

What can i do to stop the rust, and hopefully make it blue so it wont stand out that much?

How big is the chipped off bit?

Carefully rub the rust off and apply some touch up paint - if you can't get the real stuff from the bike shop go to Repco or somewhere and buy as close a match of car touch up paint that you can.
    Cheers

Repco have paint touch up pens -they kinda look like big nail polish brushes

Waste of time, paint is not made to stick to steel or a rust treatment, ideal is best over primer or at least etch primer, plus if the moisture has got into the steel it will be under the edge of the chip.
If you can't afford to repaint (properly), clean up with sandpaper and use nail polish - it seals where as paint breaths. can be found at $2 stores if the wifey doesn't have your colour.
Down side is when you want to repaint, it has to be fully removed and of course doesn't last as long in the elements so will need to be redone.
We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.
