    Gidday Southern Man,
Bang for buck mate, you cant go passed Yoshimura, Yoshimura & Suzuki are a bit like Bacon & Eggs, bread & butter, fish & chips etc etc

You also have the option of several different approachs to what you want to acheive, you can simply throw a RS-1 (road & sport type baffle, louder than stock but not O.T.T loud) slip on at it which will probably yeild around 6 hp at the rear & a significant "brightening up" in response right across the rev range...

Next step up the ladder is the RS-3 which is physically the same thing to look at but has a "race" type, straight through type baffle - this will be significantly louder than the stock muffler but I.M.H.O still nowhere near as loud or ear peircing as the straight through "Dump" pipes that grace many of the late model GSX-R's & ZX 10's etc etc & I have to say the old school GSX-R motors, which is basically what your Bandit motor is sound bloody nice with a good head of steam up & an RS-3 bellowing away

All up with the RS-3 you'll net somewhere in the vicinity of 8 ~ 9 hp across the board...

Neither of the above to options will require you to do any rejetting to the carbs - it's basically bolt on horsepower

Next up are the full systems either a Zyclone or Duplex is what I'd personally go for, again you have the option of the RS-1 or RS-3 baffle...
With a full system you will be looking at a rejet to obtain the best from it, while your doing that you might as well throw a decent set of filters (B.M.C, K & N or D.N.A in order of preference) & an adjustable ignition advancer at it, with the right person swinging the spanners theres absolutely no reason why you shouldn't expect between 13 ~ 15 hp, conservatively, up on the stock numbers... This absolutely has to be done in conjunction with a dyno to optimise everything...

Expect to pay around a grand for an RS-3 slip on & anything up to $2500.00 for a full system, having said that, the Interweb is a big place & there are some awsome deals to be had out of the U.S.A on Yoshi gear...

It's a shame your not up in Auckland as I could give you a run on a GS 1200 SS (same motor as yours) that I had a bit of a play with - its putting out a shade under 130 hp at the rear, up from 94 stock...

I've got a bit of a soft spot for the old GSX-R / Bandit engines in all there various guises so feel free to pick whats left of the grey matter !!!

Lets know how you get on

    Cheers

Had an RS 3 on my old bandit and it was just the trick. Blairos has a Micron fitted to his K6 Bandit. Seems OK..
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Had a locally made stainless muffler on both my K2 & K6. Both bikes went a lot better for it - it's now on my mate's Bandit...

Have had a alloy Two Bros in the past - baffles vibrate out eventually.

What modifications apart from exhaust did you do to the GS1200SS to get 130HP at the rear wheel?

36 MM C.V Flatslides (couldn't find any 38's for love nor money - they would have been my preference)

K & N filters (large surface area type, 1 per two carbs, not pods)

Removed airbox (motor has to come out of the frame to do this...)

    GSX-R 11 Cams

GSX 1100 F Igniter, 10.8k rpm limiter (requires fairly major wiring harness mods & once fitted you cant revert back to the stock igniter with out reversing the wiring mods...)

    Adjustable ignition advancer

    Yoshi pipe

And a truck load of time on the dyno to sort the jetting & make it all work...

Motor is still running stock comp ratio (9.8:1) - I'm picking you'd see closer to 140 running 10.8 or 11.0:1

Decent port & polish could see the old girl hittin 150 reliably...

Skys the limit with these motors, it just depends how quick you want to go

    Cheers

Re: Bandit pipe On Trade Me...

    Gidday Southern Man,
Yep... thats the beasty, it's just a later version of what I mentioned in my other post...

Thats a good price, given that it also includes the link pipe

Might just pay to ping the seller an e-mail & enquire as to whether the link pipe has the little tang on it for the centre stand to butt up against when it's up, not all of them do & it'll be something you'll need to consider having made & welded to the link pipe if you are still wishing to retain the center stand...

    Cheers

hey mate - what about an RF900? i was under the impression that the bandit 1200 and the RF have a very similar factory can (yes/no?) and given that the RF is just a gixxer at heart would you recommend the same cans as you have for the bandit?
