Big thanks to Felicks for going out of the way.

No worries, its the least I can do. I liken it to a marked patrol sitting at a set of lights amongst other traffic who then ignores a motorist blatently running a red light - doesn't do much to improve public oppinion ay.

I have spoken to one of the bikers at Taitapu D but not the one you apparently spoke to. He hadn't forgotten about it and is following it up too.

Funnily enough, turns out a fellow worker had something to do with organising this race (not sure exactly what) so rest assurred I/you have stireed up a bit of hornets nest - we'll see what happens.

Jantar - like your enthusiasm at the 'complete list' being supplied but co-operation will largely depend on the morals of those holding such list I suspect. Some people can be quite protective of 'their mates' - even though they may have done something stupid. You normally don't need to look too far to see that in this day and age... Look at the silence treatment Police have often recieved lately with respect to high publicity court cases when family members have protected other family members for REALLY dumb actions.

Its no surprise to see inmates (who aren't mates of the defendant), carrying out their own forms of justice in Prison.

However, I digress - we'll wait for a response from the cycle club administration and STMS no doubt.
The tread goes around that far for a reason...

Well I have had emails from the cycle club and safety guy that ran this event, they are most apologetic, and acknowledge mistakes were made like the lolly pop guy away with the fairies, however they refuse to admit the leading van was WELL on the wrong side of the road and deliberately forcing oncoming traffic off the road.

That must make you and your mates a pack of lieing bastards then. Might as well move to Wellington with the rest of us.

So if they are saying that, they must have identified and spoken to the driver/occupants of the van, yes?! And presumably they are believing their 'mates' version as opposed to yours. (This is starting to sound familiar...)

Whilst there are always two sides to every story, this response sounds pretty dissapointing. Is that all the correspondence you expect to get D?

If it is, I guess the ball is back in your court as to what you want to do about it.

Replyed to there email, as far as wanting to do anything about it... well it ould only be in vane, at this point I am happy to have rattled a few cages and with any luck they will think twice before behaving in such a manner again.

Yes they know who the driver was...

I recall the incident as I was driving one of two vehicles through Tai Tapu as we were about to begin five laps of a 5.5km ‘finishing circuit’ that incorporated Rhodes Road situated across from the Tai Tapu Domain. I was driving a black Subaru station wagon with a flashing beacon, whilst the Lead vehicle for the main field was a brownish/grey van that also had a flashing beacon as well as a large orange ‘Cycle Race’ sign across the lower windscreen. I cannot recall which of the two vehicles was in front of the other at that time, although I suspect it may have been the van?

I have spoken to the driver of the Lead vehicle who has informed me he yelled at the motorcyclists to slow down as he was naturally concerned for the following cyclists. He denies abusing anyone. I suspect his driving along the centre of the road was an attempt to give as much protection as permissible to the cyclists.

The fucker was well over the center line...
