Apparently I should go into business here... taking orders before the rides :P
(reminds me of lunch monitors back in primary school....)

Next time I will make some spanner cookies too.
And maybe some spare donut shaped ones, just in case...

It's true that many-an-experienced rider has fallen victim in the Coromandel (I grew up there). But I think it's also got a lot to do with people viewing it as a race track and getting carried away - especially without knowing the corners that well.

For learners, there are some pretty tight turns i.e. 20-30kph but probably the main hazard would be fatigue if you tried to do it one day from Aucks as it is a really long slog.

I was chatting to Nish and I reckon Coromandel could be turned into an overnighter - with many campgrounds, accommodation places along the way.

Another awesome ride I've done a few times is a strict coastal ride from Akl to Rotovegas i.e. Papapkura out to Clevdon, round the coast to Miranda, over to Paeroa, through Waihi, Tauranga and then cut across to Rotovegas just before Whakatane. Don't know how many K's that is but it would be about 4.5hrs of solid riding. In Rotovegas there's a holiday park near the golf course which hires log cabins for $45 a night (sleep 3 people). The place also has its own hot pools - great for reviving after a day's riding.

I'd be keen to do this ride also at some stage - if the SMC chiefs are keen.

You could find someone to come down with you Klyong (of the female type) and get your own log cabin... What lady could resist a knight in shinning black and white body armour?

In summer there are awesome fruit stalls along this way...
We went whangamata to Rotorua, only a couple of hours, delicious nectarines by the beach in Tauranga.

Also, hot pools sound awesome :P

lol this has been very interesting reading the 6 pages of posts

firstly, luke (the guy with the r6) is fine. his arms got a few scratches and his bike will be written off but the important thing is that he's fine. hes not on kb so ill let him know of all your well wishes.

secondly the ride on sat was AWESOM!!! tryna keep up with raj was insane and i lost him a few times (thanks for slown down and waitin for me to catch up). didnt think we'd ever catch up to the group dat took off after the bin but we managed to pass em well before wellsford the hard riding really took it outta me and i was wrecked when i got home

pity we lost the riders just before the turnoff on oakleigh but was gud to find em again at whangarei

gutted that i had to lead the slow pack through the twisties but stephen's done it pretty much every other ride and as the organiser i felt obligated to do it. you guys all did well and i saw some very good and mature riding from everyone (except raj) JOKES!!!

im workin this sat so i cant make any ride that will be on this weekend....also yea spoke to isaac (macstar) and rekon it wud be a good idea to do a weekend ride down to rotovegas via a coastal route

also just washed the bike today and shes all shiny and pretty
