AMCC Round 2 (03/10/04) overview

Hey congrats guys.
Actually as proud as I am with being associated with all you guys -And believe me i am -and all of you I have seen improving this hear the guy thats pretty quiet about his performabnce is HOON
I've been watching hoon this season and the end of last season and seen his riding improve by leaps and bounds -Ya notice he isn't shouting it from the rooftops but hoon got down into 1.10's yesterday and He kept with KK for most of the 3rd race of the day.
Um Ts not being pedantic-I actually crodssed the line second but the other guy was on a tZ350 so was in another class. That means -
I WON yeeehaaa
--ok but then I crashed-ahhh well

What a primo day!

Was my first time going to a race meet - and what can I say!

The weather was awesome, the riding was supurb, however i've realised im not much of a photographer, so kudos to PT for taking awesome photos over the last few meetings for us.

Was good to catch up with all the KB'ers out there. As always there were many good stories to tell.

Watching KK barrel into the first corner in 2nd place when the flag dropped, and me standing at Jennien was a highlight. Was awesome work for him to get 4th that race till bike trouble happened.

Another highlight is Hoon - After having to start in the back row of the grid after qualifying, and then managing to hammer through the field after the flag dropped and came 6th? (i think) was awesome work, then throughout the day dropping his times and posistions to 1:10 was cool as well.

Race 4 - I was sitting at the hairpin and could see all of the back straight, where i saw Hoon and KK, side by side the whole way. I was standing there thinking "Whos going to brake first!" as they flew into the hairpin. What an intense game of chicken that was !

So many other highlights to mention - TS flying around on the RG and 400, Watching MR hitting the hairpin, pulling a rolling stoppie, and then saving it and going again.

They were all things that got the blood boiling!

Despite running last in EVERY BLOODY RACE I still had a ball. 1:19 flat was my best time, so still a fair way off, but it getting closer........
Some may have recognised me as the solo orange RGV rider in F3 (112). Had the whole track to myself :-(
I missed the KB crew, (where? Who? were yous?) Met Frosty, and the usual bunch, but missed the others. More KB shirts needed!
The biggest supprise of the day was the total lack of drama (electrical dont count) from KK!!! How does he do it? Onya KK for the good placings

AMCC Club Championships Round 2 October 3rd

Pukekohe turned on a beautiful Spring day for round 2 of the Auckland

Club Champs. Very few crashes, injuries, and no oil spills meant that all

riders received four full rounds of racing.

Formula Auckland and Formula 2 were run from combined grids and saw

the Suzuki's of Lance Lowe and John Fallwell fighting it out with Mike

Smith's Yamaha and Glen William's Kawasaki.

In Formula 2 Hayden Fitzgerald dominated on Dean Labrum's Suzuki 600.

Back from the IOM and Aussie Formula Xtreme series he easily held off

Nick Cole (Kawasaki) & Dominic Jones (Suzuki) to win all four races.

Formula 3, 125GP, Post Classics, Pre-89, Clubman's & Sidecars were well

catered for in the combined classes, six race format.

The last motorcycle race day at Pukekohe Raceway for 2004 ending on a

very positive note. Next Auckland club round will be in March after

Pukekohe track works are completed.

Yeah I'm not the only one improving tho... Most of us have seen at least a 1 sec improvement in lap times at each round. A big part of it is that us KBers are pretty closely matched and have been pushing each other along (even SVS dropped in previous round!!)

A great day, not many dramas (crashes/spills etc). Saw some demon overtaking by the 125 riders who we shared the grid with (about 25 bike total). My best was a 1m10.89s in the 2nd race. KK topped that with a 10.82 in the 3rd. 4th race saw us tip into turn one together with KK just in front, we diced a little but he was too fast for me and eventually pulled away.

Got awesome launches all day and started really well thanks to the -1 front sprocket I changed to. One thing I need to work on is my passing - I need to be more focussed and sieze any opportunities ahead of me instead of getting caught up.

I was there in spirit! riding up from Ruapehu on Sunday from a work conference was pretty good but was bummed I wasn't out there with yous fullas.

Two smoker - blimmin 'eck - you going well, keep it up we need a new Aaron Slight/Crafar etc. You can do it!

Big ups to Curious George - his first motorbike race ever and he's still smiling. Good on ya.

i had cool day thought times were down. had a bit of majour work done on my bike & its runing the best it ever had. lol so much so that felt like a stranger to me & took some getting use to. mind u 2hours speep didnt do much for focus either. Didn't know when you were gonna be there, ya siad ya gonnd turn up for short time i was there from 11-2 didn't really see much of Sudeep once racing hard started, saw him little during practice, but we were up in the stands watching,

my more then fatal flaw revealed. Wasnt gunna mention it shade but i had already picked up on my below-average standerd of braking into the hairpin, i begin to haul them in around 200m possibly a touch passed @ 180 or so. never much further at all. The only extra thing i do is sometimes let go of the brakes at 100m if i think i have braked too hard and then i roll passed the person i may have been trying to outbrake and take another grab at them.

excellent day though and looking forward to more KB racing all in the 1:11's or the occasional 10's now boyz! (you too Curious George, 3 seconds aint too bad, keep that kind of smack down on your time up each time out there and itll only be a few till your in the gap too)

How the fuck do manage such a wicked time on your 400 when you are braking at the 200 mark?? If you get your braking sussed, shit, you'll be getting 1'09s or better straight away I am sure.
