    SPAM - Market Research

Question - how long do you lot spend filtering spam every day, how good is your SPAM filter, and do you regularly lose valid email due to SPAM filters throwing it away for you?

    1) We have no/poor spam filtering
    2) Spam Filter does a good job and I don't lose email
    3) Spam Filter does a good job, but I lose some emails

    3...

I get about 100 spam mails a day on my Yahoo account. (Yahoo is good with filtering it though...)

Business wise Spam is a real pain because you can't afford to miss 1 mail so it pays to a have a third party spam filter.

We use Xtra at work and I have no idea if we've lost emails. Seems to work pretty well. I disabled the spam filter recently just to check and was horrified at the amount of spam which arrived. We get 2 spams a day.

On my private email addresses (Google and Orcon) I don't get any but keep those addresses fairly quiet.

I use Thunderbird and get about 50 a day ,,from a yahoo japan address , so just click button and it goes int a folder

Gmail none as given only to friends I really Know

Yahoo used for everything else and gets 1 or 2 every time I check

    So No real spam problem

When I was using an older PDA , yes the 50 spam mails were a prob , as the connection as 64k wireless and I paid for the download , but as I have up graded ,,gone is the problem

I get about one a week which goes directly in to my junk mail folder. I use Zone Alarm - I don't know if that's because ZA is a good program, or just that I have a really low profile on the net.

I use google. It's a savage bastard and I've definitely had some false positives.

Personal Gmail accounts rarely miss a spam email, and seldom mark legit as spam. (1 in 6 months maybe?)

Work... we have a dedicated system, and provide it for clients, so of course its good Never get a spam through that, but clients always have issues, which we sort.

zips and attachment of pdf are pricks to counter, as we can't auto-block them, due to business use, so can only go on header info, black lists etc.
