Yep, Roger Stent, a hard charger from way back, he had a massive crash at Wanganui a few years back & is a bit of a mess so now he just runs the bikes for Tracey & Brian his son.

Was great to see you Stify, and meet the family

I had the best day ever! went out on the PB racing bike first off and after that I was almost just going to ride with them again, however with the people queing I thought I would give someone else a go. Wanderered off and bought more tickets before going on the black one with "Don't lick this bar" written on one of the grab rails (#47 or 57?) believe it was the swinger driving so had a nice sedate ride

Highlight of the day.. Having a go with John, on the then imaculate looking Guzzi which Brett used to swing on. Apon climbing aboard I first found the hand holds, then looked up and thought... Hmmm not much to hold me in here, best I hang on tight. With a push from the nice by-standers (no face plant like the other poor guy I saw do it) we were off, into the first corner I figured these guys don't need to warm up the tires, cause we were off and racing!A bit of air here and there, and on what I thought was the last lap we continued on past the pits for another! YEAH! Pace was getting pretty quick, all was going well.. Small incident on the last lefthander, hit oil on track, bit of sideways and superman action, creating a not so immaculate looking Guzzi, yet I still wanted more! John was straight back out there with another punter. I think I told him a dozen times that day.. If he needed a swinger he could call anytime

Guess I finally understand what Brett used to rave on about!
Sorry I didn't get a go with you SidecarBob, had a broken visor on helmet and Sue kindly loaned me her helmet for the ride home so didn't want to scratch it up or anything

Cheers to all teams and the sidecar association, for a great event! Once a year just isn't enough!

Well said O, what a great day, cant stop raving about it! If I had the money to throw around we could be a team!

Come on Enigma, give us your race report. Hands on experience. Your taste of the track so to speak. You got your backside trackside more than most, so you are well qualified.

I had such a blast yesterday that I couldn't resist writing again

. Going on a race sidecar was an old dream from back then when watching Biland-Waltisperg VS Webster-Simmons. That's a decent while back, now!

First go with the #216. It didn't look too fast or too furious, just what I needed. The guys were lovely and talked me through it before the run. Well, it might not have gone too fast, but that's the chair that gave me the most hard work crawling front and back. Almost fell off from the front a few times when braking, too. Lots of fun and a big grin on my face for the day

Second go was with the Lawrance brothers' short side. I wasn't too proud after seeing the bin on the straight, and hearing that the previous swinger had also tasted the track. However, I discovered that the most dangerous part was actually not on the track, but pushing the side in the pit. Now I understand what ATTGATT means!

The brothers' crew was so great despite my fooling swing on the wrong side of the curve (the rider's horrified look is still freezing my bones!) that I ended up on the long one, too! Geez that thing goes fast!

Last go was on the Guzzi with John. Not sure if it was really a sidecar because we didn't use the 3rd wheel very much

. The perfect ending to a great day!

I sure have a new found respect for the swingers now. Thanks to everyone at the NZSRA, it was heaps of fun!

First off thanks to tracey and team mate for popping my cherry. I knew i was in for a fun day when i got off and was shaking. Scrivy and bob thanks for taken my old man out he enjoyed himself and only wished he did some more laps. Bob thanks for taking me out more than once and giving a good show It cant be easy putting on a show with some virgin swingers.

My biggest thanks has to go to Tracey's dad that man can ride! He is so smooth and gave me the time to analyse body position etc. ....... which is most likely why I got flung off.

My favourite sidecar type has to be the short wheelbase. Accelaration even on the 600 is just awesome and it stick to the tarmac. When you get a bit brave and flung your self over the rear wheel it feels like the thing is going to wheel stand on you. Then there is the brakes ........ Lets just say getting thrown off the back as only half of your problems.

The BMW was fun cause you can get low in the corners as a swinger and having the tarmac rush past your head what felt like only millimetres is awesome! Having Sidecar bob lining up the bike wheels on the apex and having "swinger" wheel in the air with the swinger over the grass...... HOLY FUCK THIS IS FUN. Then there is the sideways exit YEEHA. and the sideways breaking YEEHA.

The long wheel base sidecar is "easier" (at least thats what i felt) and the front exit thing was weird as I think i was too tall for it. I also didnt feel as comfortable with drivers of the other rigs like I felt with Bob, Tracey and her dad.

Now for the crash..... HMMMMM this is my version.
We where on lap 6 i think. We where steadily going faster and faster and I was feeling more and more at one with the cart (Mistake one) The previous lap i was able to go through the right hander while hanging over the rear wheel so I was about to switch position when we hit a bump that made my foot swing into the air. This was follow up by what felt like a second bump the sidecar getting sideways and me tumbling down the road.

The real reason for the crash was ........ I was getting to cocky.

The downside of the day ...... the freak show was not there Bring on next time!

I had so much fun!

I cant wait to give the freak show ago.

I think i have a lot to learn and wouldnt mind giving racing ago ..... although i will need to get alot fitter. ..... which is i think is part of me falling off. soooo if you ever need a swinger Im your man! and if you speak to Tracey and her old man wants to take me out again ......... Im available!

Who knows i might swing both ways!!!!!!
