Hon CHRIS CARTER: There is a clear judicial process for judges to follow to consider whether a limited licence can be granted. These reasons include extreme hardship to the applicant, undue hardship to a person other than the applicant, and “an order under this section is not contrary to the interests of public safety”. Those are fairly clear guidelines.

Ron Mark: I seek the leave of the House to table an online forum from www.kiwibiker.co.nz entitled “How to get a limited licence for under $400”.

Posting on the internet is like taking a public ad out in a few hundred newspapers around the world.

There's plenty of times I've felt like answering in a certain way, but haven't wanted my opinions on public record as it may come and bite me in the arse later with my work.

But still, there's plenty of entertainment to be had here without my input . . .

The minister for internal affairs, courts and civil defence is a keen Rocket III rider.

He rides to the parliament occasionally - tells me he parks behind the PM's limo in the beehive basement.

Probably pretty safe.....no way would a mere limo knock one of them over.
