2005 ISLE OF MAN TT FESTIVAL TOUR

    Hi folks,

Ever fancied having someone organise to transport your bike from NZ to the northern hemisphere summer so you can do some touring around the UK and Europe AND take in a Isle of Man TT Festival?

    Here's your chance.

Have a look at this link: http://www.getrouted.com.au/

If you're keen, contact Dave and express an interest. If we can get 10 bikes together for this tour he will organise for a shipment ex-NZ, probably from Akld given the biking population up there.

    Cheers

Is he also going to sort the ferru crossing to IOM? I thought most guest houses, campsites, and ferry places are already booked for 2005 already...but then I could be wrong.

Yes, the ferry ride to the Isle is all part of the deal. This from the itinerary...

"Thursday 2 June - ride to Heysham. Catch 2pm Steam Packet Ferry Heysham to Douglas, IoM. 3.5 hours sailing time

DON’T BE LATE FOR THE FERRY – THEY DON’T WAIT!!

Isle of Man Be met at ferry terminal in Douglas IoM and ride to accommodation"

And Dave has been doing this for a wee while now, I'm quessing that he already has a block accomodation sorted out on the island and it's just a case of putting names to rooms. But that's just a guess.

I guess I should have looked. It's just me being an iggerant pom back in pom land. I only know about the transport and accom probs through the brother in law who used to go, and then book his travel and accom for the next year as he left.

There are lots of campsites so usually room can be found. I've also got spots on the ferry 2 weeks out before, normally something anti social like a 2am sailing time though.
The ferries may not wait for you, but if they leave within 90 minutes after their scheduled time then you are doing well, the Steam Racket ferry company are shocking, the worst ferry service I've ever experienced.

You think NZ ferries are crap? I was quite surprised how bad they are given they are owned by P & O or whoever.

Reasonable point, IOM probably not around for much longer, below is an except of a msg from the same Dave (been to 6 Auss GPs with him, he's an ex kiwi & caters for people who don't expect to have their hand held, which is most bikers), sadly we are saving for a new house, wedding etc, but may make it along before the time is up.

"If you've ever thought about going to the IoM TT then do it in the next 3 years because it will die after 2007. 2007 is the 100th running of the TT and is guaranteed to happen but the Manx Govt are tight lipped about what happens after that. It's political. If the TT goes ahead after 2007 the Govt will get kicked out so my guess is that they will compromise and the TT will finish in 2007."
Don't you look at my accountant.

    Waddaya reckon boys and girls?

Do you think we might be able to get a group of 10 bikes together for the 2005 event, or should we look in the longer term and try and formalise a Kiwi Biker tour to the 2006 IOM TT and start saving now?

Let me know what you think and we could get in some early planning with Dave now. Chances are we might be able to catch up on some Irish road racing while we're over that way, and possibly a BSB round and even a WSB or MotoGP event in Europe. And some of our European brethren on line might want to join in too!?
