    120/70/17 tyre on a 96 Hornet

Im not sure if this has been covered before as i havent been able to find anything on it but, just wondering, ive got a 96 hornet and am looking to replace the tires soon, my question is is there any possibility of putting a 120/70/17 front onto the 96 hornet, which usually uses a 130/70/16 front tire? Reason i ask is coz damn those 130/70ZR16 tires are hard to find
    cheers

Hahaha - I don't know that it's a good idea to use tyres other that those specified.

I DO know that poor Hornet 250 riders have to fork out unrealistic amounts of money for litre sportsbike tyres whereas all the other 2 fiddy riders can get great rubber for about $300 per set.

    Have you tried cycletreads?

can't physically stick a 17inch tyre on a 16 inch rim...so no is the short answer.

    Umm.

Are you sure that the hornet has a 16" front rim?

As far as i have ever known they run the exact same size as they typical 600cc bike rims.

Answer is no. They have the same 16 inch fronts as the 92-97 cbr900 i think. You can buy tyre for it but usually cost more than a 120/70/17. Call up cycletreads and ask them. There was a guy residing over the shores advertising a 130/70/16 pirelli diablo almost new for $150 a month ago.

hmmm are you sure they have the 16" tyres?
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.

The 130/90 16 may do? Slide your forks 5 mm through your triple clamps if you feel you need to sharpen the steering again.

yeah i knew i was pushing my luck with the 120s on a 130 rim, but i had to make sure :P
yeah ive checked out cycletreads, the only thing theyve got are D209s () or Metz M3s! (double ), with the cheaper option being obviously the 209s. Looks like either way ima have to fork out a bit for something thats not gonna last long, but then again i am on a 250 so i might no chew through them nearly as fast.
Ill have a look into those kendas.

Tru that. so assuming cost isnt a factor i assume the M3s over the 209s?
