Bike-friendly candidates for local councils/mayor, etc?

Local-body elections are coming in a few weeks, so who should I vote for if I think motorcycling is important?
Can whoever's in the know please post here?
Keep it simple. I like simple. I am one of the masses. Simple is all I can handle.

    Put the region or town in bigger letters so we can scroll through the posts till we find our town, like;
Central Otago vote for Malcom Taylor, cos he's a kiwibiker.

Please note this is NOT a paid advertisement for Mr Taylor, never met the guy, he just happens to be the only biker candidate i know about.

If this breaks any election rules you can suck my salty ham-flavoured balls muthaf*%ka.

    Neither is this.

I have met / worked / Riden with him. He is one of the good guys. I'd not hesitate give him my vote if I still ived in the area.

If he feels the need, he can shout me an ale some time when we meet on a ride, though I wouldn't consider it payment as the odds are I'll reciprocate.

Darel Hall (Shirley / Papanui, Christchurch) wants to make the streets safer, by getting boy racers off the streets. He seems to realise they won't just go away, so wants to give them a place to go where they can do their own thing and not litter the streets with crap, throwing bottles (another one landed on my driveway last night ) etc, as well as street racing... and less of them on the streets is a good thing for us. I'm going to ring him to ask his opinion on the state of parking for motorcycles in and around the city...

Brendon Duffy in Horowhenua rides a Harley. But he is still a good guy.

Carterton's mayor is a Harley rider. Personally I'd rather vote for somebody based on the value they could add to a council, rather than whether or not they rode a bike.

Quite right; I'm not really a big fan of trannies and the like but I have heard Georgina Bayer (sp) was good for wherever the hell she (?) was in council.

Duh, of course. What I'd like to know is who is biker-friendly. For instance, in Wellington in 2006 four councillors voted to look at introducing fees for bike parking. They won't be getting my vote. The evil ones were Mayor Prendergast, Crs Morrison, Wain, and Armstrong. The motion was defeated 7 to 4.

Good point but if they are a biker there's a bloody good start

Have you ever spoken with Gary (the Mayor of Caterton)? He's a good bloke and comes across really well as someone that wants to do a lot for his area. Unlike councils that just seem to want to make everyone's lives hell.

    What do you mean "duh"?

Your premise is entirely about encouraging people to vote for candidates solely based on whether or not they ride a bike.

We've enough single issue politicians "representing" us in local and national government thanks.

Actually Jim...you're wrong. Re-read Steam's post and you'll see that he is interested in finding out which candidate to vote for (if he thinks motorcycling is important...duh??)
