Lucky you didn't get injured on the bum. Under the above conditions you may very well find that you'll have a mushroom growin' outta your arse.

Are you bored, mate? Try watching paint dry -- there's this new stuff that goes on pink but goes white as it dries. Watching the lawn grow also has a special fascination for some, particularly noting that C4 grasses recover more quickly after mowing than do C3 grasses.

Sorry mate but you'll just have to wait it out. I don't think even Dr Costa could do much for this. Knees, elbows, shoulders always seem to cop it.

By the way how is your bruising. Last time I had an off I bounced the bike off my knee/thigh, and the deep bruising was really f&*^%% sore.

Do your best to keep sane.

I had the same problem, it took months to heal. When a scab formed it was very weak and would fall off whenever I tried to wear pants. Kept me off of my bike for a month and a half. Still hasn't fully healed, my knee is a funny colour, could be a scar because it doesn't hurt.

As an Ex RN I think your doctor sucks. Cell growth needs moisture not dryness. Especially considering that you wound is from a fiction burn. Sterile dressing is important and not destribing the wound too often will help to speed heeling. I like to use Manuka Honey on my wounds (has antiseptic qualities, feeds the new forming cells and keeps it moist). It speeds healing and no puss. Alovera is not to bad ether and there are some good wound healing gels. Keep a clean dressing over the wound. Change the dressing only if it gettings dirty or wet (bugs love a dirty wet dressing). Get a nurse to do the dressing (or show you how to do it). We are specially trained for this (not doctors, see them for the antibiotics). See the doctor if the wound gets hot, red, swells, has pus, and/or is painful. These are signs that the wound has got infected and you may need antibiotics or other medicial treatments.

Yeah, I went back for X-Rays last night, and the NURSE set me straight. They heal better when covered up, like you say. I'll be using OpSite dressings, which are sterile, and seal up nicely.

    Harden up son....

I had an accident (insert favourite geological age here) ages ago and gravel rash (the deep down to the bone sort) on my ankle would not heal properly. A decent scab would not form...

Mad irish nurse decided it was time to sort this out.....

Out with the silver nitrate stick (I think)... Fark...... Like someone stubbing a cigarette out on your skin... made a nice scab REAL fast.... crickey it HURT. I used to break out in a sweat at the entrance to the hospital gates... put me off S&M I can tell you that!!!
