    Steinlager Pure

I would like to post this to People who were drinking Steinies in the early 80's How did Steinlager go from that...... I've just got to look at a Green or Blue and I've got a Migrane To this fantastic summer beer...albeit a little expensive between $18 on special to $26. Not an advertising post either. Just think its a huge leap forward for NZ piss

I know!!! I used to get a hangover before I'd even stopped drinking the original Steinlager (ok that was back in the old days when I'd probably go through a dozen warming up - not bad for a 58kg lass).

And the next day, yuck. We used to call them Steingrenades ......

Steinlager Pure is an absolute delight at the end of a hard hot summer's day.

    Well done them!!!:

Steingrenades now there's a word I havent heard for a long time, still brings on a headache every time. Who could really tell the difference between the green & blue, tall steinies now there was a headache. Remember drinking far to many steinies at Hawkesbury road races outside Blenheim then back to Woodbourne for some more before heading back to Wigram next day. "Pure" Yep a huge step forward very nice drop if a little expensive.

The place I was working at New Years Eve sold over a pallet of them on the night, probly because the alternative was tap beer like Macs Springtide.

It certainly is a nice drop!

I never touched Steinlager after a few headaches and hangovers, much the same a the leopard paw cans brew that should never have left a batching plant.

Stienie Pure is not a bad drop at all - besides its in a green bottle that makes it great

Nothing wrong with the original Steinlager.

When you drink Steiny Pure you're not really drinking Steinlager.

A bit like the difference between Blue cheese and Brie, Lite Milk and full cream...

    Not to my taste.

As a Steini drinker I have to admit that I was hoping that the Pure thing would be as good or better. But it tastes like crap. It does not matter if you have it cold or warm. Still the same "phuck, who left this one in the sun opened for a week?" I have tried to buy that stuff on several occasions, but always ended up giving it away.

Green bottles. There is a reason beer is to be in brown ones. When Lion changed that with Steinies they made a big mistake. Green lets in light and it changes the beer. Try to drink a Steinlager in a DB pub. It has been sitting in the cooler for ages. And tastes rotten. I only buy my Steinlagers where there is a big turnover.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Not a fan of steinies unless I start on them, but had a pure after another beer, think it was tui or export, and tasted ok,had another in case the taste of prior beers added to flavour and was bloody good, similar to heiny, stella,to me.
