Any signwriters that can make a car numberplate?

    hi.
    i have an mx5 cage - don't laugh - at least it doesn't have a roof!
i need a new front numberplate - and the last one was a self-adhesive piece of vinyl made by a signwriter - white reflective background and black letters and looked very similar to a real plate.
does anyone know a sign company that can do this?

    kind regards
    ken

I've made the odd one for MX5s in the past. I seem to recall making them a little smaller than a standard sized plate cos they fitted better. They are not actually legal tho - you do know that?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

yes - but i have had one for the past 6 years and not been knocked back for WOF.
i had the front repainted - so would like another stickon front plate.
can you make me one for $$$?

Hmm --silly side question --is it actually a legal requirement for cages to have 2 plates? I run around on trade plates all the time and have no issues

Yes. Except for dealer X plates.

You have to display the plate issued by LTSA, home made, sign writer made etc etc plates are not allowed, you could get a $200 fine.

Actually you still need a WOF. A 'D' plate won't get you off a warrant, however there are forms you can fill out yourself (as a dealer) basically self-checking the vehicle. Even then the vehicle can only be used to go to certain addresses, mostly paint/panel, mechanics, or compliance outfits.
