    RIP Chewy the Cat

Bummer start to the day this morning, our beloved cat was run over last night

We have had Chewy for three years now and he has been the perfect cat, never had an "oops" inside as a kitten, really personable, slept on the bed with us.....all round good cat. Great mouser, birds....etc.

Didn't even complain when we got another kitten!!

    Best mate to stifarms.

Poor Chewy, he will be missed. My Smooch may have been attacked and seriously injured by the cat next door last week, but at least she is still with us, albeit a little limpy still.

It's so sad when a cat is run over. If only they came with some inbuilt ability to avoid roads!

Bye Chewy, hope there are plenty of mice where you are now.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Kids make you smile though, my eldest is wondering whether we could find a Genie - because you are allowed one wish and she would wish for Chewy to be with us again.

Just had to have my 18 yr old cat put down largely because he was now blind and almost deaf and we couldn't bear the thought of him getting run over. He wasn't good looking ( previous visit to the vet, the vet even said " he's no oil painting is he" ) but had a fantastic nature and even avowed cat haters liked him. They may be arrogant bird murderers but couldn't imagine not having one around ( we are down to three now ). Condolences to you GG

    Bugger. Sorry to hear that.

On one hand it's "only an animal", but I know they're actually pretty damned cool little guys and gals.

    Hope the day improves.

    RIP Chewy.

My deepest sympathies to your humans. Your companionship will be missed.

I could not imagine how terrible Mrs PB and I would feel if our cat was prematurely killed - she is our 'fur child'

Bummer GG, really sorry to hear that. It really hurts when you lose a pet. When I moved to Wellys 3 years ago me and my partner at the time split after only being here 1 week, I thought that was bad but got over it. But a couple of months later my little tabby cat Rastas was run over and killed, I balled my eyes out for days.... I still miss him heaps!

Sorry to hear that GG. I'm a huge animal lover; have a dog myself. Shes not a dog really, more my 4-legged daughter - I'd be a mess if anything happened to her. I know what a big place in your heart pets take. Am sure there are 100's of fond memories you have of Chewy. Hope you are feeling better soon.

    thx guys

Your thoughts and words are appreciated.

We have another cat - Lulu - so we might just wait and see whether we want another cat/kitten. We have also got a pet sheep, a weiner calf and a horse, so I am feeling pretty overwhelmed by how it feels to lose a pet and I suppose realising that we have lots of responsibilty animal wise!

Having a bit of a shit week really - On Tuesday our baby hare died.....so two burials in one week.......better not bloody come in threes...

Tiz sad to lose one of those critters,I'm a big cat lover...they are independant and can't be trained just like me.I could never own a dog because you have to tell them what to do - sit down, stand up,lie down, heel, shut up - I'm not a bossy person, not a control freak,so a dog would be wasted.

My daughter is fostering kittens for the SPCA,and every few weeks she gets a new litter to look after and bring up to weight - we are both waiting until that ''special'' one comes along. The single kitten she took back last week was close,a cute all black girl - she had been found in a rubbish bin only 2 weeks old and unable to walk or eat....she has been hand reared and has only known human company,so that's what she thinks she is....so,so cute, but too stroppy for my wife.

We've got 2 human kids and 2 cat kids, having recently (just before xmas) added the second cat child. The obligatory hissing has passed and now the older one (a nuetered male) treats the kitten as if she were his own.
It's hard to lose 'em but even harder to have to send them to sleep. Chin up.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

    Poor chewy.
May all the birds in cat heaven have their wings clipped and the mice have no sense of direction.
