Engine prices

i'm currently writing up my report for my fourth year project ( the mighty V twin build) at engineering and i need some weights and prices of the types of engines listed below. the prices can be new or wrecked and dry or wet weights (i'm only after rough numbers)

Any late model line four 600cc
Any 250cc dirt bike singles
any 450cc dirt bike singles

P.S. the V twin that we built is running sweet as but is giving the dyno coupling one hell of a hard time vibration wise.

Can't help with your weights and prices but just thought I'd say congratulations to someone who isn't actually studying law, accounting or for a BA I suppose that's a bit rich coming from a professional engineer who is now in Marketing

Get yourself to a bike wrecker with a set of bathroom scales. This is called field research and is educational........

If your stuck for wreckers try the yellow pages and ring them first to obtain their co-operation.

my bike has many km's on it from exactly that kind of research. its not crutial to my report and so not worth the time and running around. i have emailed a few wreckers and i have got some of the info from them but was just hoping for a bit more from here.

Fairy nuff, however I am not too sure how qualitative the information you will get off here is.
Most of us will scratch our bums, have a swig of beer and go "Arrrrr it must be about 67.2 kg's then"

And just to show I'm not a grumpy old sod, a single cylinder 650cc (DR650) trailie motor weights 44kg's and is worth $1500 in good nick.

cheers mate, thats all i'm after. it's only for comparitive stuff and the acedemics at uni probably haven't seen a dirt bike let alone the engine.

Quite easy to get well over $100 k. When I semi-retire next year, I'm probably going back to engineering and do a bit of consulting. A mate who's a KB'er working as senior civil engineer for Maunsells says any of the big consultants are desperate for experienced engineers and pay well.

Depending on where you buy from the price varies (obviously).

I recently killed my R6, and quoted prices were anywhere between $2800 and $4k depending on condition, and mostly not a 'complete' engine, i.e missing an engine casing, no carbs, sometimes no flywheel etc...

250cc inline four... CBR250RR engine for $400 at mates rates, but generally seen 250 engines (ZXR/CBR) for between $700 and $1400 in pretty good condition.

Motor cyc trader they normally have engine weights etc in there tests and have a look on tardme for engine prices
