Indeed there was. Welcome to Paul and Erin, nice to meet you guys.

Unfortunately the slow leak in the front tyre decided to become a fast leak about the time I got back to Featherston and found the servo had shut so tried to make it to Greytown but ran out of air at the outskirts so the bike is overnighting at a motel there and I will have to get it tomorrow. Grumble- brand new tyre fitted today- will be interesting to see what they have to say at the bikeshop that fitted it.
Thanks to Gareth51 for the pillion home.

The weather in the Wairarapa last night was better than perfect -- it was cranked all the way up to 11! The pre-beverage excursion was a delightful way to spend a Wednesday summer's evening.

However, it still managed to blow on the Hill for the return trip, but I must have been well "zoned" despite that, managing a bridge-to-bridge of just under 11 minutes.

When its windy as it can be it pays to be 'zoned'.

I prefer the term "velocitudinally challenged".

A little update on this. When I went into the shop the next morning and told them what had happened. They immediatley sent one of their blokes in their ute from Paraparaumu to Greytown to pick it up. No charge - brilliant.
They put a new tube in it and it is now all good.
They had reused my old tube initially when fitting the new tyre and maybe hadnt fully checked it after fitting - one blokes oversight perhaps. Thats ok, everyone can make a mistake - "its the putting right that counts"
And after sales service was excellent. No quibbles, just "sorry - we'll fix it" - and they did. They wouldnt have made a profit on that deal, but they will definitly be getting some repeat business and some word-of -mouth advertising from me.

The shop is Bike Clinic on Kapiti Rd, Paraparaumu. They have just opened but Phil Burgess the owner has been in the bike business for many years. Great staff, great service, I reccommend them.

There was no problem, just a huge increase in braking power from fitting scintered pads. He just needs to learn finnesse now and he'll be fine.

How did you get on with TSS? I checked my GT250R yesterday and I can push the front down same as you. I don't remember it being any different before and assume it's always been that way. Curious to know what they said about yours tho.

Edit: Just saw Jim2's post with the answer

    Farewell

I'll try and get out this week, it's looking like the last ride I'll get with you guys before I shoot through.

That is, if I can get away on time....
