Well what can I say say really? Dodger, you and I should have swapped. I'd have ridden that scooter up the hill.

Yet another great evening to go over the hill. Blobbed out in the front lawn of the Tim Hut eating good food with a bunch of KBers as the sun goes down ... sublime!

The cafe at the top of the Takas didn't look like it had taken any heat but it was hard to see the generator shed damage at the back. I just hope this doesn't mean the end of the place. I so wish that the Regional Council would invest a few bucks in the building, then charge a good operator a peppercorn lease - it's a great facility to have, I would hate to see it go.

They're not going to. The lease is being extended month by month and it is fully intended that it will all be ripped down. The toilets are no longer serviceable and will be removed shortly. It isn't a profitable site because there are no services, so the generator and septic tank maintenance eat any profit that a two day a week business makes.

Awesome ride last night. Best one I've had for a long time, apart from you pricks all pissing off while I was taking a leak

Anyway had a great ride back with the guy on the TL1000, sorry, don't know any names yet. I was right in the groove. Awesome. I'm still buzzing.

Couldn't make the "ride" due to other commitments (and didn't want to take a 50cc over the hill )

Will try and make it in a week or so.
I finally got my knee down! …and my shoulder …and my pillion’s head.

They have and they do. Although the "good operator" part is problematic. It costs the Regional Council about $30,000 a year to maintain the toilets at the summit. Maintaining public dunnies (apart from those in regional parks) is not core business for the Regional Council.

Even if there was no rent charged, there is no mains electricity or city water supply and sewerage at the summit. The absence of these places significant constraints on what an operator may do. Everything they sell up there has to be driven up the hill, as does their workforce. And given that this is, at best, a two-day-a-week business, Nobody is ever going to make a *go* of it.

While the views of a handful of bikers who like to have a wee and buy a coke at the summit once a month are interesting, any profits from that are unlikely to fund the running costs of an African orphan.

Fark. When were tenders last publicly called for that wee contract?

The operator of the cafe is supposed to do the toilet maintenance as part of the lease arrangement.
