Led Zeppelin live!! How I wish I could be there.

With the 70s music thread on here recently I'm surprised no one has mentioned this latest news for 70s fans. Led Zeppelin to reform for one concert only in London on 26 November with the son of John Bonham playing drums - that's about as close as we can get to the original line-up!

If ever a 70s group was reforming that's got to be the biggest drawcard from that decade that I would want to see. Man I'd love to be there. Unfortunately, only 18,000 people will get to enjoy the show. Bugger.

Maybe a CD/DVD will follow to tease the rest of us.

How many entries have you got in the ballot?
I have entered a few times today! 220 million people had entered as of this morning for 18000 tickets. Almost makes lotto look like good odds.
If I was lucky enough to get tickets in this ballot I would be going no matter what!
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

Yes, but can Plant still pump it out like he could all those years ago? I'd like to think that he won't embarass himself like Waters did....
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

yes well it makes you wonder what they would of been like if they had listen to their manager and never released Stairway to heaven....??

or if jeff beck and eric clapton had of join the band when they were first asked in the days of the "New yard birds"

but they had talked about it years ago with john's son playing drum's

    Good things take time huh!!

David Gilmour released a very good album this year though: and Waters was always an up himself git.

robert plant has released two new records this year, and the last one I have of his (Page and Plant from a few years back ... its got Gallows Pole on it) is him in good voice.

Interestingly one of the CDs he has released this year is an album of bluegrass duets with Alison Krauss: it sounds great... Ah'm a gonna buy 'er.

    Its called Raising Sand

Even though the concert is a one-off, if it goes well and the group bonds it wouldn't surprise me if there is a world tour or something afterwards.

somewhere I read that the estimated gross ticket sales on a world tour would be 500 million POUNDS... sure they'd have to stage it and travel and all that, but criminy, theres a buck in it for them.

the thing is, they dont NEED the money, none of them. They may want the charge/adulation or whatever though (why else are the Stones still touring? it must be ONLY for that reason.. probably the only thing keeping Keef alive)

What do you mean? We went to the Waters concert a few months ago, he was great in that.

I referred to the 'recent' LiveAid-type concert where he rejoined Floyd for a couple of numbers. He was awful.

Like all these old groups, I'm just glad I saw them when they were young and vibrant, not old and worn out, doing "one more for the bank account" tours.

Whatever happened to "dead by 30"!

Roger Daltrey - I hope I die before I get old.

??? you talking about the save the planet thingy? lols he played at the New York event but with a collection of musicians, there definitely weren't any other members of Pink Floyd playing . He played Pink Floyd covers, ones of which he wrote.

The site dedicated to the Led Zep concert was getting 80000 hits per minute
