just looked at my work roster and im not working on the 27 Nov. A xmas ride and get together sounds great as I could put some faces to the names-would it be ok if I came along.

Some distance. I recommend strongly cadging a lift or you won't get much change out of $100 from Vlad the Impaler in his taxi...

I'm thinking more like 200, given that it costs 65-75 to get to Upper Hut from the airport now. It costs 40-45 bucks to my place in Lower Hutt for goodness sake.

I am sure something can be done, by way of organising a lift for the dodgy Pomgolian/JAFA cross fulla what rides crashed green motovelocipedes, closer to the time!

Even take ya over the Piecockareekie hill rd. Now that's fun.

Unless you're an old bugger with too much money, an AC Cobra, and a point to prove with your brother.

I'll be into this. If there's no ride organised I can give lift lift to those around Newlands in the mighty 'K BUS'.

    Now where is the venue?

    Folks...

This is a KB Xmas party. All KB'ers are welcome. If you have the moxy to come from further afield than Wellie then remeber we can provide limited accomodation for up to 4. Tony (Mr XJ) you have first dibs on a bed - it's 50km but if you are coming we can arrange rides, no sweat. For that matter the train is $6 off peak)

We have a large section with enough wilderness for kids to get lost in and we are 5 mins from the beach if they get bored and the weather is great. Borrow a kayak if you want (happy to lend them if you know what you are doing, no way if you don't - Don't want any drownings.

As time goes on, I will issue a 'general rules of engagement' notice but it will all be commonsense. ie, bring stuff to eat and drink, If you have an odd diet, bring stuff, look after your kids (it IS a wilderness OK and our dog is not that fussy about where she goes number 2's), wipe ya bloody feet, act (semi) responsibly and don't ruin anyone elses fun!!! :sly:

Gawd knows what we will do if it rains....

We will provide a collection of groovy music, shelter, paper plates, bbq, ice and all the other stuff... You will have fun (bring your dancing shoes)

You will enjoy it I promise....

I'll be a starter for both, might even bring the missus if she doesnt have uni exams on.
Hooks, I'm all keen for a ride/bbq in palmy, so give us a yell when you are looking for numbers and/or help.
Might have to get togther for a ride with all the Palmy folk one day

Mate I'm always up for a ride ...
As to the timing ... would a New Years Eve party be a good idea ?? ... I have plenty of space out the back of my section and it's not too bad a spot ... 5 mins from the middle of town and not far from the Freyberg Pool too .... As I said I 2 largetents so even if the weather goes bad we can still party and have somewhere to crash afterwards .....
A man can move much faster without a millstone around his neck, so if he gets the chance to lose her he'd better drop her and run like heck !! .. (10cc "Modern Man Blues" - Deceptive Bends)

Is there any bike related stuff on Manfield round that period that would be worth going to then back to your place Hooks afterwards (maybe via a longish detour??)
Life is difficult because it is non-linear.
