Man finds police tracking devices in cars

And sells it on trademe! Haha thats great!

    From http://www.stuff.co.nz/4192807a11.html

A police operation to covertly follow a man came to an abrupt halt when the man found tracking devices planted in his car, ripped them out, and listed them for sale on Trade Me.
    I would've bought it!

He musta been paranoid to sweep his car. What a dag! But its a good idea to track crims cars I reckon, would solve most crimes and surely make Policing a piece of piss. But are they bugging bikes as they drop off parking tickets too?

Cracks me up how the media yet again waste time reporting dribble like that and make the guy out to be all sweet and innocent. There will be a damn good reason why the detectives were tracking him.

If only..... half the buggers steal or dont own the vehicles they use in crimes. I say just blow them all up and save us millions in taxpayer dollars.

Yeah,. that story sure made him seem like a legend, a classic kiwi joker getting one up on the fuzz. He's probably scum in real life, but wow that article made him look like the winner eh!

Scumdog probably knows all about him and it, but can't tell.

I'm sure this guy is probably the scum of the earth and all that, and I'm positive the police would not be tracking this guy without reason, I just found it amusing that he put the stuff on trademe.

Bet it pissed off that officer in charge tho.. Hope they get him, for whatever else he's going to do.

They were unlucky he was a kiwi and not irish.... an irish bad guy would have been found by the car flicking his flashlight on and off at the patrolcar wondering why it wouldn't burst into flame.... "You see officer, I was to be so sure it was a great plan to torch your car....."

A most interesting piece of television, we actually saw him being taken in by the most polite policemen in the world. Well done TV1! Will watch for developments. The story is the thing! Cheers.

Slightly off topic reported in our local paper, in the UK there is a device now available for $2K to jam the signals to & from GPS to satelites which defuncts the future availablity of London to 'tax' vehicle use in the city limits.
What else could this jamming technology be used for....

I'm fairly certain that the city 'congestion zone' runs off camera reading number plates, so no GPS jammer would stop this.

If its some other sort of road tax I'm unaware of, GPS only tells you where you are. You then need to tell that to some central computer before it can start billing you. Typical systems use GSM / CDMA (like the one on trademe) or local packet radio networks.

The technology to disrupt such networks is readily availble and has been for ages..

They're helping the aliens to track us! The only sure way to avoid detection is for everybody to make sure they're wearing their tin foil hats and scan proof protective undergarments...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them
