    Because other than suspension you have two choices.

    1, Bring him back into the force. Because the government don't look stupid enough over the whole thing already. Sure, yeah, let's do that.

    2, Sack the cunt. Unfortunately you can't because he's not been found guilty of a sackable offence - merely being an obviously very stupid person to have as a senior policeman is not a sackable offence. Neither is just not being able to do your job, BTW.

    Personally I'd be all up for sacking him and just wearing whatever legal shit then rains down - I've not heard of any six figure employment law victories so it would almost certainly prove cheaper. But if you're the government ... with several tens of billions of dollars just kinda knocking around ... then one dodgy git with a new commodore is not exactly going to break the bank. Better just to brush it under the carpet and hope everyone forgets come election time.

    I hope John Key hangs them out to be eaten by vultures.

    I've had a little experience as both an employment mediator for a union, and as an employer of a lot staff (currently) in the government environment.

    You’re correct in theory, but in practice you can introduce all sorts of considerations, there's mediation and then tribunal and appeals...bla bla bla - why would he go thru all that to get an updated car - when he already has one.

    The other issue is - when someone is suspended for more than 3 months you can appeal for a mediator to renegotiate his contract, terms and condition such as the car. I’ve done it before.
    I think Rickards still has mates in high places

    Oh well, as you were I guess.

    This is to do with the Polioe Contract of Employment not the Employment Law.

    I'm too stupid to post a You tube link, but the "real' Chopper Reid has a message for pricks like that copper, (and all sexual offenders) on line.
    If someone can post it, it's well worth viewing. Chopper is a scary bloke.

    Rickards managed to make his way up the ladder to from a copper in Rotorua to Auckland Police Commissioner with these allegations being known, he was not suspended until the investigation was completed many years after the first mention of the incident(s).
    How does a copper with possible rape allegations get so many promotions??? I think it would be fair to say someone in a high place thinks hes alright, even if everyone else thinks hes a piece of crap!

    A mate of mine had a T-shirt with "Slavery for women" written on it. He got accosted by two dykes at Auckland International one Saturday. Farkin funny.

    Dunno why I put that in here, but oh well.

    Some just go no sense of humour. Tell your mate to get a T shirt.

    I was trying to work out how this fits in the Rickards bashing thread - then I worked it out;
    He's the little boy who stuck his finger in the dyke, wasn't he.
