had an awesome training day at ruapuna yesterday on Elsie, good chance to get a few things sorted before greymouth, like trying to start the race...always a wee problem on my bike.
Engine transplant going on as we speak into the bucket... fancy that an FXR engine in an FXR frame, what a novel idea!

13 sleeps till we head over the hill...

    yup, oct 21st!!

the buckets will still be run with classics, we only had about 7 or 8 classics from memory. sounds like it will be split start. The guys in both buckets and classics were mixed to speed up proceedings in the last race of last year and most of the guys concerned have raced at greymouth many times so they all know to be aware of each other. Its not ideal but if we had 15 to 20 of each then we would split them. its safer to mix the 2 slowest classes. You will allways get the fast buckets passing the slow classics and the fast classics lapping the slow buckets.
Its a shame that the event started 18 years ago as a classic event with over half the bikes entered being classics. However evolution has caught up with us and they are now in short supply. We did have 2 entries which entered both classics and buckets so they will have the option on the day, i think they are entered in both.

I think that was our only real issue when sorting entries, out of 108 riders, i think only about a dozen had number changes. We used to run a one rider one number policy but with the motards not allowed to cross enter it means there isnt as many number clash's. so if you have had a number change it is likely that your entry arrived later than sooner or the guy/gal who got your number has simply been to greymouth more times than you!!.

3 lady riders this year too, oh and a 74 year old gun called Curly on a post classic katana, great to see!!

a few classic guys doing their 17th and 18th years this year too.

dagerous, we did get johnney buchanans entry, he was one of about 5 new riders that didnt supply log book copys with his entry, so i hope he has done 3 club days at levels/ruapuna.

yeah Johnneys an old hand at Ruapuna BEARS meets... I think Ray Shearman was gonna vouch for him? He mentioned something to Dangerous the other night.
Thats good that he'll be there give me someone to beat... on my now surgically improved frankenstein FXR.
Yes its ALIVE... Surgeon Dangerous and Assistant Rashika did the tricky operation of removing one engine and transplanting it into another, took off all those flippin decals and I CLEANED it (that in itself took off about 1kg in weight), ready for its makeover this week into the silver streak speed machine ...and I even rode it round the streets to make sure I knew how to ride one of 'em goddamn its light!

The previous owner is a rough prick, I'd be surprised if its even looking clean after the grime he let build up on the old girl.

he will need to produce copys of at least 3 day licences and must hold a senior mnz licence to race. as long as he has them it should be no problem. If he hasnt then ray can ok him. either way he must have a senior mnz licence.
