Hey Daryl, I don't have a rectifier but your thread is a good catch-all, can I piggyback on it and list the bit that I want please?
I would like a standard 600F4 or 4i seat to try out. Any condition is ok, even just the pan.
Most bike dealers should be able to get one for you - that number indicates it's a Shindengen R/R. Shindengen make them for Honda, Ducati and some other manufacturers. I dunno who imports them, but I bought one from Spoectrum and the second one from Mt Eden M/C, who both got them from Eurobike or whoever the importer is.
If you buy a "genuine" Honda one, they WON'T give you a warranty on it, it will cost twice as much, and it'll just be a Shindengen one anyway, as Honda don't make them.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
Hi Darryl. Reg/recs for the earlier Blackbirds were known to fail on occasions (as you've just found out I suspect). The problems were fixed post 2002 and a lot of people swap to the later reg/rec as a precautionary move.
Send a message to JAWS (John Smith) in the UK. He specialises in Blackbird parts and his service is legendary throught the Blackbird-owning world. I've bought heaps of aftermarket stuff from him. Usually takes a week to get here. His website is: www.jaws-motorcycles.co.uk/. BTW, some people use Yamaha R1 reg/recs as a replacement. If you want to know where the good Blackbird websites are, just send me a PM.
Cheers,
Geoff
I bought one for my Fireblade from Ebay and paid 1/3 the price including postage compared to what Honda NZ was charging. Was told by a bike shop best to go for aftermarket rectifier as the pre-2000 CBR 600,900,1100 OEM rectifier were notorious for failing (bad design).
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.
