    Cruiser Rides

Dudes and dudettes, just some thoughts about the next ride:

Firstly - That we post under "Meetings and Events" as per the website protocol. Yes the ride is first and foremost a networking event for cruiser riders.

However, maybe we should consider creating more interest from cruiser enthusiasts and bikers that ride other bike categories, but prefer the more relaxed pace of our rides. This could also be a good chance to help the newer riders and/or 250 club members to come along and gain confidence.

Secondly - That we consider posting rides at shorter notice than a month out if we see good weather coming up for a Saturday or Sunday for a given week.

    Thoughts/ideas please?

Well seeing as it sometimes takes me a month to get the money up for a long ride (and if I'm joining you auckland folks it will be a long ride) I'de prefer the longer notice.

But that's just me, you folks can do as you please and I'll just show up when I can.

Agreed on all counts, provided the focus does remain as social networking event for cruiser riders.

I've yet to get out on one of these rides as I've had prior arrangements each time one has come around. More frequent rides at shorter notice would likely get more of us out there and mix up the field a bit.

I would agree, as that is probably the first place that most people wanting to join a ride would look.

A very good idea. We may get ScorpyGirl out on her Virago to join one of the cruiser rides.

Yep, agreed no problem with either point, though I might add that saterday rides would suit some of us better, and including 250 club or noobs also a really good point, provided they can wander along at Light Speed Normal ie legal speeds..

Either way suits me, I'll be there once the bike is back on the road. Well done on you for organising this.

How about lets all keep in touch using pm's off this thread (no, not an invitation to touch) and watch that weather forecast.

One of the cruiser rider group can then post up (based on feedback) a Saturday ride in the meetings thread for the next fine weekend day and we'll go for it based on whoever is keen on any given week.

As a rule of thumb, lets try for roughly at least one ride a month anyway to make sure we are getting out there as a group and building interest in cruisers.

I hope that made sense... its been a long day in the office.

I say, are there any Whangarei cruisers up there? if so, we could do a run up and meet em, probably around a 350-400k run
Constellation Dr Mobil - Warkworth - Wellsford - Bryndewn - Whangarei - Dargaville - Bryndewn - Wellsford - then either back to Constellation or left side to Helensville and Home.. for me such a run would need to be a saterday tho...
So, not nessesarily next run but its one I would be keen on at some stage.. a reasonably long run so would need an early start also but great on a good day I would think..
