out towards hastings - go out on river road to the Patangata (sp) pub and back down the other side of the tukituki river - choice....
Next time i'm over there i'm heading for the road that takes ya thru' Tiniroto!
Gotta be wikkid on a bike!
(altho', not sure how far it'd be from Napier)

Hawke's Bay roads? Here are some favorites:
Wairoa and back. Quickly. Whoar.
Havelock North to Patangata, either side of the Tukituki River, or a loop in either direction.
Bay View to Taradale via Seafield and Puketitiri Roads. And back again for good measure.
Fernhill to Otamauri and back via Otamauri Road and Matapiro Road. The first part is the "Taihape Road". It turns to gravel not long after Otamauri, so turn off there and head back as suggested.

i wouldnt want to be caught dead in the same grave as me.
Have a good ride ceebie and all.
I had my first day back at work today.
For the record, Taihape Road has 12KM of gravel before the Annie (Kirapipaponga), there is more new seal at the bottom of the annie on the other side, and about 30Km of gravel till you hit the seal onthe Taihape side.
Went that way return to the Cold Kiwi, it is in good nick at the moment.
Biggest problem on that gravel is logging trucks.
