Bucket meeting Kart track nth of Waipukurau

Have just seen this meeting on Silver Bullet & spoken to an organiser so am likely to be going up, if you are in the area might be worth a look in. They have just started this bucket lark so they need support.

Apparently they own the circuit which is the old Waipawa Kart circuit. It's easy to find and is visible form the main rd. It is Harker St which is the first road on the right as soon as you cross the bridge coming from Waipukurau, the town just before Waipawa coming from Wellington.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Bugger, I've got other plans for that weekend, very tempting though.

Well sadly Flips you are right.

I set off sat night leaving a dinner party going at my place (Bec’s birthday bash, see how dedicated I am? Ok Bday was Friday & we went out but. . ). Weather report was for crappola weather & 7 hr round trip.

Got there & the weather was good if a little threatening.

The track however was tiny & would have only had one racing line when new. Problem was it has been patched up 3 days before with chipped seal instead of tarmac.

Went out in practise, almost hit someone who fell off in front of me, there was stones & stuff all over the place & it was like marbles.

We had the first race which I won but the track was getting worse with more & more stones flicking around everywhere, you couldn’t lean the bike & passing was impossible. I parked the bike in the van & headed home.

Hopefully as the track gets used the repairs will settle & it will be useable & good fun for the locals, but hardly a track I would travel to get to. Unlike Tauramanui 27/8th November which is a pearler.
