For sure man, got a video camera on my bike, makes it alot of fun.

    WHAT ME MUST DECIDE SOON:
    • Time of departure from Auckland
    • Accomodation (At Thames?)
    • Meeting place at Thames

Thats about it at the moment

    I say:

If we are going to have BBQ for dinner at Thames, Aucklanders don't have to haste going to Thames since it's only about 2 and a half hour ride according to Google Earth

Yeah that's a good idea, Meet at Thames and on the next day, we do the whole Coro-loop having lunch at Whitianga.

    Any other suggestions?

Edit: PLEASE PM me to confirm if you are comming to this trip

I'd suggest to leave not to early, maybe meet at 9.00-9.30am and leave at 10pm, so that people would have plenty of time to fill up, and buy what ever they need, and discuss the roads that we are going to take. etc...

Yeah, Akl to Thames (via the coastal route you are planning) would take a max of 2hrs from downtown Akl to Thames town on a single 250cc.

From Thames town, it would take just over an hour to get to Coromandel town (going slow).

All up, approx a generous 3 hrs to get from Akl to Coromandel Town on the Scorpio.

Next day: Coro Town to Waihi would take you just over 2 hrs (going slow) and Waihi to Paeroa to Akl about another 2.5 hrs on the Scorpio.

So probably around 5 hours on day II.

Total actual ride time: Somewhere around 8 hrs.

I know there's guys on here that will say they've done the full loop in under 6 hours, but you're going to be cruising along at less than 100kph.

I'm in mate. Am keen to stay with Kevfromcoro in Thames and do the loop the next day around to Waihi. Also cool to meet up whenever, early or late on the Thursday.

    Alright

As Out-law suggested, lets meet at around 9:30am-ish
We will take plenty of time for this trip.

Since the accomodation is about some distance above Thames, lets meet at Thames McDonalds and ride up together
If Aucklanders grab 2 1/2 hours down to Thames, ETA would be around 12:30pm. Quite early to have dinner at that time lol we could find something else to kill the time

Accomodation: Ok I've pm'ed kevfromcoro before and he said it's cool to stay so
So we will be staying at kevfromcoro's for the night Thank you Kev
We will also be having BBQ together

    Everybody cool with that?
