    Worst driving I've ever seen

Coming home last night, down Gt North Road past Western Springs, I'm pootling down the bus lane.

I see a car powering up the cross hatched median strip..probably doing about 80 kph.

There's a right turn up ahead so I don't initially think much of it....until a bit further down where he cuts back into traffic, then cuts into the bus lane, and continues to power down the road at 80+
When he gets to the bus stopped to let people off up ahead he cut back into the traffic, and I can see that he's not really slowing down at all...and only just missing the other cars.

I continue on my merry way in the bus lane, and must have passed him as he stayed in traffic....until the Pt Chev intersection that is, when suddenly I sense something shooting past me on my right, and with me in the right hand lane this means he's on the wrong side of the road...until he cuts in almost knocking me off.

While waiting at the lights I turn an glare at him...but he looks really mean, and the front of his car is fairly smashed up, so I don't think he cares if he hits stuff...hence I refrain from yelling or pulling the fingers or anything.

Seeing as he's driving like a lunatic I hold back a bit when the light goes green to make sure he's well in front of me.

I keep seeing him doing dodgy overtakes on the median strip all the way down Gt North Rd....and I can't help myself

I was hoping he'd crash...not into anyone else mind...but maybe into a lamppost, the curb etc...something to just take him out all by himself...preferabley with ospital time to keep him off the road.

Wasn't till I got home that I thought about reading the number plate and reporting it to the cops...a bit late by then

What could possibly possess someone to drive that badly??

This morning, as soon as I got to Gt North Rd, there was another biker in front of me, who started lane splitting also. As he looked to be on a full sized bike and didn't have an L plate attached, I figured he'd cruise smoothly down the middle.

    Not the case.

He didn't seem very confident at lane splitting, as he passed each car he'd brake before he got to the next one...wait right behind and then pass it..kept doing this one car at a time the whole way.

I was extremely frustrated by the whole thing, as it's normally a fairly smooth run, and instead I was forced to constantly brake and wait.

So I sat directly on his arse the whole way...hoping that as the traffic speed picked up a bit, he'd enter a lane properly and allow me to get past...but he didn't do that either...and I know he knew I was there, as I could see him continually checking me in his mirrors.

So my question is....am I being a bit of a cock by getting too impatient?
Or should he have moved out of the way when it was safe to do so?
one wonders whether he posts to a car forum.... Can see the thread Now... "Am I DRIVING like a cock"... Give it up dude, Gt North Road is out to get you, Find another route...

Seriously, there are some right f/wits out there, had a nutter on Sandringham rd the other day who decided I deserved the "Bird" at the lights after splitting and then an apple core in the back of the helmet a little further down the road...

I can beat that - about 2 hours ago on Oteha Valley road instead of turning left and going up and around the roundabout they deliberatley turned right into the fast lane of oncoming traffic (That I was lucky enough to be in at the time) and they continued driving causing about 4 cars and me to swerve out of their way until they reached a gap in the traffic island to get back on their side of the road. And they thought this was funny laughing their arses off!!!!

Pricks. Karma needs to hunt them down and give them clap!

Bikes in buslanes are perfectly legal. Go read up on the rules.

    Fair call
To be fair tho, this is completely different.....I was going home this time

His driving was somewhat reminiscent of what I've seen some bikers do actually, cept he took up 3 times as much width and length.

    That's a bit harsh ...

Not everyone in Auckland/NZ drives like a demented axe killer on crack .. i mean .. come on ... lets keep it real without tarring the whole country with the same brush shall we ... shit .. if we did that that then all bikers are arrogant ass holes, with no respect for the law that run from the first flash of the blue lights.

There are people out there, both cager's and bikers that deserve to have there licence's revoked, i could give you the names of a few ..

But at the end of the day ... not everyone behaves that way ... if you see someone driving/riding like a fuckwit ... note the plate number and call the boys in blue .... and stay the hell out of the way... because they will kill you regardless of what you are riding or driving. .... and no ... you cant always blame the drugs ... some people are just wankers.

    Umm. nope.
Kiwi drivers are shit. They just "think" they are good. The majority are not on drugs, but still drive like they are. In fact it would probably improve many drivers.
Pathetic training and testing, then they are let loose without any further checking for a period of 10 years.
Compare ourselves with overseas... the defence rests.
All drivers should think "my driving skills are poor, how can I improve" each time they are behind the wheel.

Having ridden around Europe I feel I must agree with this statement.

I've done the ring road around Paris and the French drivers, whilst a joke to the rest of Europe, are, compared to NZ drivers, the epitomy of care and consideration.

I would rank the average kiwi driver somewhere way below the Italians and definitely below the Greeks and Turks, both of whom dont really care about other road users.
