Coming from Wellington I "grew up" on "the cruisy wednesday night ride". See thread here.

Deviant Esq and I thought it would be good to start up a similar ride down here.

The ride is designed to provide a social event and chance for the less experienced of us to learn from those with more experience. It is a "cruisy" ride and not a race from one point to another. Anyone is welcome to come along.

I learnt pretty much everything I know about riding from the crew in Wellington on the cruisy Wednesday night rides. Now is my chance to give some back. Besides, it will be a fun event, probably generally ending at a pub.

Now, I'm a newbie in Christchurch, so I'll be relying on others to come up with routes on the nights and a meeting place.

The only other thing that needs to be decided on is which night of the week to do it. I found it was a good "break" to the working week, so Tues, Weds or Thurs would be the choices.

Anyway, I just wanted to guage the interest so post away if you would be interested.
This is what it is about - a CRUISY RIDE.

So who is going for the ride tomorrow?

If know one speaks up we will just leave from home for our ride and will not go to the Belfast Pub as it is out of our normal way to head out for a ride.

    Are you riding the FXR150?
Not sure but will be riding in a lot of 100 km zones.
In the hilly bits you will be fine it will be a pain getting there.

I will rethink a route to suit smaller bikes.

The FXR150 keeps up at 100 pretty well. Its lack of top speed only becomes apparent when you guys find a nice long straight and decide to really open it up.

The last ride to Akaroa i did with a group we had a FXR along and the wind slowed him down quite a bit,he enjoyed the ride but wished he had a bit more power to keep up with the group. You can only try.
It all depends on who is organising the ride, what bikes are going and wether suitable for all styles of bikes or not.

I think phoenix always found on his FXR that he was slower out of the blocks, but could make it up on the corners!!

    Have a good ride guys!

Same with my NZ250... though I'll be trading up in the not too distant future...

Anyone keen on going for a bit of a gentle cruise tomorrow morning? I'm back from my few days away, batteries recharged...

Well we did 240k's did all 3 gorges and the wee bike did better than I thought.
I do think that it was getting it berrys most of the time and only on the steep up hills and at one point the wind was strong did it slow us down.
    Well done.

Good ride good people and good weather.
    What more could you want?
