Well I had a good ride on wednesday nite, not good to hear about the near miss spuds , but I quess it's a lesson learnt. stuck with some of the front guys, but had to ease off on the power a bit as the bike/suspension was starting to leave its comfort zone, perhaps santa has a olhlins shock in his sack for mepity the $10 dollar special was off the menu, perhaps we better call and give them a rark-up next year when we plan a visit 15 -20 people has to be good for business??.

Again, you dont know me, my family, my life or anything about me, so please dont assume anything. If you read back through I have acknowledged when help/useful advice has been given, but respect is still something that is earned in actions, not in words.
Thanks for your comment Bren but it wasnt necessary

Ah, nothing's changed eh? People were getting pissed off with me and Dangerous' little exchanges... so I choose to ignore what he's saying (for the record, still read them, but stop short of replying to them or entering into any discussions about them)... and others have just taken up the reigns.
Guys, don't worry about dangerous. Seriously. He means well, just arses up in the delivery is all, makes it sound like he's trying to start a war. None of us want crashes to happen either, so we're all on the same side.... he just gets a bit more passionate (that's what you said D) about it online.
I'm in the "it's about personal responsibility" boat too. End of the day you can't control anything anyone else is doing. Influence? Yes, some. Control? Not even close. So why stress overly about it? Do something about what you can control - yourself - and that's all you can do. If you feel that you're in danger of coming to grief because of others on the ride, either have a word in their ear, make sure you don't ride near them, or don't come on the ride. Worry about what you can control, stress less about the rest.
I probably won't be able to make the 26th - all too many family things - but looking forward to the next one I can make all the same.![]()

Shite I read every no... when the wife gets a no response from me for everything she says... I am going to blame this very post!!!!!!!
I was following this young man, (shit saying it like that makes me feel old) Nice amount of tyre smoke from the rear, but really ya should be doing that stationary, exactly as he said, lookin the wrong way, speed was deff no issue from my perspective, or line, just the sight line of the eye should have been around the corner. Certainly I have done similer in the past, but not in leaving the road. A good lesson learnt, though not in the best possible environment, would have been ah-la ouchy hurtys had a car been hauling the other direction.
Ya gott give the Big "D" credit folks, he owns a mighty Guzzi, and in post wording he makes Tarrantino almost a saint. I get where he is coming from. Dont for gods sake take it to heart.

Have been on a few rides with the D, and to be honest, without sounding all soppy and sooo, but ya sure get the feeling he cares about all those involved, hanging back frequently to check the number of riders to ensure no one has dropped off.
A great saying that my boss throws is "Shit Happens----Suffering is optional"
So hence this is the internet, dont take anyhting personal,
I would only take something personal, if it been in a PM or in person-face to face.
Starting a new thread for 08 is a good idea.![]()
Lets have a great 08 Summer season, with some good mid week out and abouts!!!![]()
Wasn't there to see it.. but just from reading your post.. it sounds like you went into the corner waaay too hot!!
Your bike will get about 75-80% of it's braking power from the FRONT brake!!
All your braking needs to be done BEFORE the corner. Along with gear selection. You need to be under slight positive throttle as you go around the corner, & then gently roll the throttle on as you hit the apex & can see OUT of the corner to the vanishing point.
You were very simply.. INCREDIBLY LUCKY NOT to have a vehicle coming the other way!!! The outcome, VERY easily could have been VERY different!!!
If ya screw up a corner, ya just gotta COMMITT to it.. LOOK up & look further.. & counter steer harder to get you around the corner.
A few notes I put up from a couple of Roadsafe courses I did..

GET ON
SIT DOWN
SHUT UP
HANG ON
yeah thats his problem at times, just aint really that good at verbally getting his point across, not to mention his lousy spelling. Doesn't wanna start at war but does wanna make sure the less experienced guys survive to be experienced. And yep Passion is the right word DE.
sorry ya old guzzi rider... was just testing to see who does read these things
D is really good on the longer rides, exactly as GB has said, and maybe is worried we will end up like the northys, all rushing to get somewhere and hurting ourselves or worse in the process. I know you guys are listening, but going back and forth with the bull just gets backs up so lets just start fresh this new year huh?
Accept that D will be a grumpy arse and treat him like ya grandad! And he'll accept that we are all young whippersnappers that need a kick up the ole backside every so often... oh yeah he does the same to me too, bloody arse that he is
Excellant points there too MyGSXF!
I think these rides are just a bit too short for most of us to really get there and enjoy. I love riding but cos I work so early, evening week rides are difficult for me to do and I hate to feel rushed. Maybe there are others with the same problems. I'll still try to get to some, esp over the hols (YEEHAAAAAAAAA its hols time... I know I've already said it, but its the biggest break I have had since forever!)
So you'all have a great xmas if I dont catch you somewhere on the road
