I've got a Holden V6, the new engine.

It uses about 12-14 l per 100km. I'm not very pleased, my old V8 used to do that, and had way more tit.

And the tank is small, so you are being constanly reminded that you need to fill up.

The car is designed by socialists, it beeps if you dont wear your seat belt, it doesn't have a cigarette lighter so you can't plug in your radar detector and no ash trays so you have to flick your ash out the winda.
David must play fair with the other kids, even the idiots.

Had a 96 Holden Wagon. The Missus used to get about 8.8 l/100km out of it on a trip. For me it was about 9.5.
The (old) cast iron Buick derived motor was pretty economical.
The (new) alloy Isuzu derived one is not
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

4.0l, 1998 EL Falcon low km (85K), with big bore exhaust and extractors and K&N filter and modified intake.

The tank I think is about 65l (say 60l to fill) and my wife will get over 600kms out of it in an open road trip (loaded with the kids etc), so around 10km/l (10l/100kms).

Around town with some stop light racing this will drop to just under 500kms, being around 8.5km/l (11.8l/100km.

Once I did a trip towing a heavy boat full of camping gear and 5 passengers and the fuel light came on at around 400kms (6.5km/l), but I wasn't taking it easy and the roads were up and down.

Overall I think the ecomony is pretty reasonable given the size of car and engine and if driven sensibly. I like it and have owned it for about 5 years, but it is for sale if anyone is interested....

I have a Holden 3.8 ltr supercharged, does 420kms in town, 700 kms on the open road if no more than 110kph, per tank about 60 ltrs.
Air con sucks about 10% of economy, but they can make some ice.
Sorry mis read the thread, I had a 94 VR Acclaim, didn't think it was a gas guzzler at the time, I had a 91 Honda Accord prior but the Acclaim had way more grunt that I was prepared to pay for.
The VS Commodore 95 onwards would have been the most economical, the body weights increased considerably with the 97 VT range.

Considered LPG? The systems are pretty good these days, if you drive a lot it'll pay for itself reasonably quickly.
