Teehee. Good stuff. And entirely true.

I guess we'd just have to let the Americans come to our aid...

Perhaps we could rename Wellington. New Warsaw, anyone?

She's standing as a 'Communist League' representative. Why is that funny? :spudwhat:

There's no tickbox for 'none of the above'. Some people might wish to express their viewpoint along those lines.

Unfortunately, your comments probably represent the opinion of the masses regarding blank votes, so such subtleties are most likely a waste of time on the part of the poor idealists who cast them.

balls to that. there were some sections I (and obviously many others) have no opinion on what-so-ever. I'm not going to vote for a councillor candidate if I don't give a flying toss who's going on the board, nor if I think they are all equally worthless (which I do). 'blank' is a valid option, and has been chosen deliberately as such.

The commys are coming the commys are coming.

Just saying you never heard about them with all this other auckland mayor stuff.

I don't believe a blank vote is a vote, its just a waste of time and money having it being counted, is like doing a something but only half of it, i only gonna put my left side fairing on leave the right off, i believe you gonna vote, if you don't know much about other areas you find out and make an informed decision

Ho hum. Marx had a lot of good ideas. The methods that communist states have historically used to promote their ideology (ie, killing everyone who disagrees, etc) don't necessarily reflect on someone espousing left-wing fiscal policies under a 'communist' banner.

Well, it's not as though the media are going to give fair coverage. You'd have to seek out the options yourself if you were interested in the fringe pollies.

Engage brain before engaging mouth (fingers?). Registering a vote for 'none of the above' is an entirely valid and important concept. In this particular local body election, it was only a small proportion of votes cast; if it was a large proportion, it would send a clear message that new candidates were required, or possibly that the electorate was unhappy with the system itself.

Your comments make you sound like one of the media-programmed "do my socks match a blue or a red poster today?" people who seem to form the basis of our system of 'rule by the incapable, appointed by the incompetent'.
